Do you want to be Vice President?
The Hill, a congressional newspaper published in Washington D.C. that publishes daily when Congress is in session, asked the 97 Senators not involved in the race for the presidency whether or not they would accept the nomination for Vice President. All 97 responses are verbatim and many are interesting.
Senators say whether they’d agree to be vice president

Re: Do you want to be Vice President?
I'd like to see Obama (or McCain!) pick Bob Casey Jr, the new Senator from Pennsylvania as his running mate. He's a moderate/conservative Democrat who is strongly pro-life (and anti-war, I might add). If Obama picked him, it would offset his pro-abortion credentials and perhaps make him more appealing to conservatives.
If McCain picked Casey, it would prove he can reach across party lines and be the uniter that Bush wanted to be but failed miserably trying to be.If there is anything I’ve learned from both conservatives and liberals, it’s that we can have all the “right” answers and still be mean. And when you’re mean, it’s hard for people to listen to, much less desire, your truth.

I agree, he would be a good choice, especially for attracting socially-conservative Democrats (there are a lot more of these than is generally recognized).

Wesley Clark would be another good choice, answering some criticism on the "security" side of the equation and also helping garner support from quondam Clinton supporters.

I guess I'd could be in that "socially conservative Democrat" constituency, even though I'm not a Democrat.

Secretary of Graft and Corruption right here! (committing it, anyways.) As far as Obama's vp goes he is going to choose Hillary. Bob Beckel has it right. I think she wants it, and she can threaten to force a convention vote for it.
Meh.

I like Senator Bennett's response the best.

McCain is how old?Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.)
“When I was much younger I would have probably said, ‘Sure, I’ll be glad to accept it,’ but I’m 70 years [old] and they need a younger person for the job. I would probably tell them, ‘Look for somebody else.’ ”

“I would say ‘No, Hillary.’ ”

I intend to stay in that position. The Senate needs a designated driver to stay behind and work on healthcare.”
