Re: my public declaration of my being a christian
mig - I am well aware of the instructions given to you. You are being purposefully evasive or dense. Let me make it very simple for you. Do you believe the following things:
hen defining “Christian” or "orthodox" for purposes of this section, we mean persons holding to the core essentials of the historic Christian faith such as the Trinity, the Creatorship of God, the virgin birth, the bodily resurrection of Christ, the atonement, the future bodily return of Christ, the future bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, and the final judgment.
Yes or no. Please.Nochyu mokraya ptitsa nikogda ne letaet.

Re: my public declaration of my being a christian
Geez, mate, you couldn't just post the Apostles' Creed or something?
The River of Fire
The Way Into the Kingdom of Heaven
Distinguishing Truth & Error
Apologetics for Orthodoxy
Ochlophobic Musings
"I would join countless numbers of evangelical Protestants and say I have come to know Christ with fulfilling and life-changing effects and daily witness His grace and leadership in my life. But just because God in His grace and mercy has met us where we are and adapted Himself to our unique cultural and religious circumstances in no way means He has abandoned His original plan. God does not contradict Himself. Truth is intolerant, and truth is found in the Church’s living and Holy Tradition. It is my growing conviction that only a strong living Tradition can protect us from the corrosive and destructive forces of modern life, the insidious and deceptive effects of modern pluralism, and the disheartening and confusing proliferation of religious opinions...What are we to do with this "cloud of witnesses," this Holy Tradition through which they live and speak with such clarity and certitude? Well, for me there seems to be only one logical response. I must turn to the Church and its sacred Tradition; I must listen humbly and be instructed. I cannot let God’s marvelous blessings of the past blind me to what I have missed or deter me from that to which He would lead me still. I must return home to Orthodoxy." Rev. Dorraine S. Snogren, The Road That Leads Home

Re: my public declaration of my being a christian
Why did you choose to answer that post rather than mine which would have put this to rest once and for all? Please ask what the Apostle's Creed is in another thread.
I have yet to find a Christian who had been one for any amount of time in a non-third world country that doesn't know what the Apostle's Creed is.
However, your next post on this thread needs to be either yes or no to my questions.
That's it. This has wasted enough of my staff's time.
PS: to everyone else, please this is not a debate thread, but the frustrating result of weeks of trying to get mig to give a simple declaration of what I posted. That's it. It has wasted hours of staff time. The only next post should be mig's and it should contain one word. Either yes or no.Nochyu mokraya ptitsa nikogda ne letaet.

Re: my public declaration of my being a christian
what post?
I probably don't know cuz I spend time studying the old and new testament, and the apostles' creed was from the middle ages and is not found anywhere in the New Testament
what questions?
that's so sad.
what question am I answering? and did this really take hours of staff time trying to figure out whether im actually a christian?

Re: my public declaration of my being a christian
1. Do you believe this.
2. Why do you often post like an Atheist? Having doubts about Christianity and looking for answers to them? Playing devil's advocate? What?
That's all they want to see, man....the compass of existence held more than my text-books had revealed, more than I had ever dreamed of. In short I lost my superiority, and this, though I was not then aware of it, is the first step towards finding God.-A.J. Cronin

mig, she's referring to post 5 in this thread. the one RIGHT BEFORE the one that mentioned the Apostle's Creed.
You can lead an atheist to the Living Water, but you can't make him think.

Re: my public declaration of my being a christian
Rephrased, and busted up for you:
Mig, do you believe or acknowledge:
1. God is a trinity.
2. God is the creator.
3. Jesus was born of a virgin.
4. Jesus was physically resurrected.
5. Jesus' death atoned for your sins.
6. Jesus will physically return in the future.
7a. Everyone will one day be physically resurrected ...
7b. ... to face a final judgment.
Hope this helps.
(Please note that I've replaced my standard usage of "your god" with "God" for the purpose of clarity. I remain an atheist.)

Re: my public declaration of my being a christian
I'm listed as a "Christian (other)". I choose that because the profile box for TheologyWeb under the "Faith" category states:
"Christian" as used by this forum means those holding to the Apostle's Creed aka orthodox (small o). If you claim the title "Christian" but do not hold to said Creed please choose "Christian (other)"
For me personally:
1. I don't think the earliest Christians thought that Jesus was virgin-born (neither do I)
2. I'm not sure about the whole "Jesus was the literal son of God" thing and how that is possible
3. Jesus's purported words and life, and Christ on the cross, are powerful images for me, but I'm agnostic about the Resurrection (though I think there was an empty tomb) until further information is obtained.
4. I think Jesus offers salvation by his actions, but he isn't the only path
5. I'm a Universalist/Annihilationist.
So, is my listing correct? :(

Re: my public declaration of my being a christian
Yes GD, you are listed correctly.
Now, mig, no one else had ANY PROBLEM figuring out what you are supposed to answer.
I am serious I have had it with your whining and having your friends write and complain - now hopefully they see why.
You next post is either yes or no to my post #5, the first question in Kelp's post #10, or Jesse's post #12.
If you don't, because I think you are now just playing games, it isn't a matter of getting your tag change but of time-value ratio here where I will recommend my staff consider suspending your account.
We are not spending any more time on this nonsense.
YES OR NO. If you say no, then perhaps you should be listed as Christian (other) - it doesn't necessarily mean your tag will remain the same as atheist is you say no. There are plenty of people listed as Christian (other), and that is fine. Maybe that is precisely what is suitable here. But for Pete's sake man, answer a freakin' question for once.
YES OR NO to that list. We can move on from there. I am dead serious, don't post any more games, I have had it.Nochyu mokraya ptitsa nikogda ne letaet.

Re: my public declaration of my being a christian
well that's a lot simpler
God is a trinity (3 persons, 1 God): yay
God is the creator of the universe: yay
Jesus was born of the virgin mary: yay
Jesus was physically resurrected: ultra yay
Jesus' death atoned for my and your (everyone's like "ihr" in deutsch) sins: yay
Jesus will physically return some day: yay
Everyone will one day be physically resurrected: yay
Everyone will face final judgement: yay, but 2 details I want to add
unbelievers will be judged for their sins, but believers will be judged for what they did for the Lord in the "Bema Judgement" as my bible teacher calls it
happy now xena?
