      Open Creationism

Ok, I hope this is the right place for this. I was just wondering, on the profile editing page, one of the choices for ontology is Open Creationist, and I was wondering what exactly that means. It sounds a lot like it could be what I believe but I've never heard the term before. For that matter, I've never heard of a specific term to describe my beliefs about it...

      Re: Open Creationism

"Open Creationist" is protological view that was basically invented on TWeb by TolkienFan. The term "Open Creationist" is actually an alternative term as the original term is "Apathetic Creationist".

Put bluntly, adherants of this view (of which I am) really don't care how or when God created. We only officially believe that God created from nothing a finite number of years ago. We are generally open towards T.E, YEC and OAC (although I'm more partial to T.E.) but we tend to focus our studying on other aspects of scripture which we deem to be more important, for example, defending the historiocy of the Ressurection.

      Hope this helps!

      Andrew.

      Re: Open Creationism

Spacefoetus has it right. Although in all fairness, Chaotic Void was the co-founder, I just tend to be the spokesman.
"I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened."

"So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you were also meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought."

-Frodo and Gandalf the Grey in Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring

"Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire."

-The Talmud, quoted in Schindler's List

"Many folk like to know beforehand what is to be set on the table; but those who have labored to prepare the feast like to keep their secret; for wonder makes the words of praise louder."

It's also an alternative term for Open Theism.

Okay, thanks. Yeah, it's basically what I believe, I just hadn't heard that term for it before.
