I see the moral equivalent as being that he does not have American security interests in mind, at least compared to personal interests.

I genuinely don't get the rush to defend him. Then again, Trump did say he could shoot somebody in broad daylight and that it wouldn't affect his poll numbers. I think he was right on that one.

I don't think Trump was joking. I know it wasn't treason. And no, being unwilling to jump on the treason bandwagon isn't being a partisan hack anymore than being unwilling to jump on the Hillary has seizures bandwagon.

        Both. are. stupid.

Which is kind of a problem. Any statement from Trump, no matter how vile, illegal or whatever, could be dismissed as him being sarcastic or joking.

That's not good when partisan stuff gets introduced :(

It's possible that Vlad simply sees Hillary as a war-mongering hawk and Trump as a simpleton and also a noninterventionist and so thinks a Trump presidency will allow Russia to expand militarily in a way that a Clinton presidency won't.
Or, as I suspected, liberal progressives like you have become the new face neoconservatism when it comes to cold war rhetoric and so anything less than a nuclear threat against Putin is interpreted as "Russian linked." Just out of curiosity, what makes you think Russia is intent on expanding militarily, other than meddling in Ukraine, which is a country right on their border?

Just to clarify, I'm not accusing you of that. I think you've made a fairly strong case that he's legally in the clear, if not morally.

It does bother me that Jaecp gets accused of being "stupid" for not thinking he was joking, even though you and I both think that as well.

It's the lameness of the accusation - treason? Seriously? Really stupid comment from a candidate, yes; reason to have him executed, NO!

Or had you forgotten treason is a capital offense?

                      That sounds about right
Especially if this is just a leftwing media deflection, which seems pretty obvious.

No, Jae was accusing me via the broad brush. I think his accusation (partisan hack) is stupid. I find yours (treason) more disturbing but that point seems to be settled. I don't think anyone is stupid - but even genius' have idiotic arguments from time to time.

You might have a case - but you came in guns blazing so that case doesn't work here.

Did I miss the part where you defended Trumps statement? You just said you don't think its treason, but it is stupid or whatever. My comment does not apply to you
