Just lock up anyone who uses a gun in a crime for life with no parole and maybe they can cut down on those repeat offenders. Just be prepared for a tax hike to pay for all the dumb ones who don't get the message after the first couple hundred get locked up. And for those who think they have nothing to lose, use them on the chain gangs repairing the roads in the gang banger areas of the cities. Might take care of the roads and the tax problem... One solution or the other is going to have its own set of issues in gun control. Me I wish to keep my right to have one...

2. You can't gather up all the guns and destroy them
3. You can't lock up everyone who uses a gun forever.

I am saying we will have to live with criminals and all sorts of violence, wars, hatred, and sin until Christ returns.

Guns are just tools. They can be used for good or for evil. Just like a hammer or an axe or a knife, or even written words. Whoever said that "sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me," ...was an idiot. Words are the most powerful weapon ever devised. Why not eliminate them? Let's outlaw words.

People put way to much "power" into the guns themselves and ignore that they are just inanimate objects. People are the power behind what the guns are used for. You can use a gun to hunt for food, for sport, defense, or to kill. The gun is not some evil object that has to be eliminated.

This article points out that statistics show that the presence of guns elevates the world-wide suicide rate rather modestly, if at all. Deaths in which guns were involved were more frequently suicides than were murders or accidents. Deaths by gun accidents were infrequent as compared to deaths involving common household items.

At least one recent Supreme Court dissent cited gun-using suicides as a reason to ban guns, though the statistics show not many lives would be saved from suicide if at all. I dare say that many more lives would have been saved by gun-wielding law-abiding citizens, and probably are . . .
