Anime
Hey, just wondering what kind of anime fans we have here. I know there's already a thread for Naruto, but that's the only anime thread I've seen, so I thought I would create a more general one to discuss other anime as well.
I'll start it off by saying the anime I like:
Naruto
Bleach
Claymore
Fullmetal Alchemist (only about a quarter of the way through it right now)
Hikaru no Go
I also have heard really good things about Rurouni Kenshin and Death Note, so I plan to watch them at some point.
So, what are everyone else's favorite anime?

Re: Anime
I watch anime sometimes, but there's almost nothing I'd consider worth a second viewing. Only a few Miyazaki films -- Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle -- make that list.
Here I am!

Re: Anime
Same here. I'm actually far more into mature American animation like the original Heavy Metal (I hear a part 3 is coming soon), and Ralph Bakshi's stuff like Wizards, Heavy Traffic, Coonskin, and The Lord of the Rings. The look is just so much better if you ask me. Don't know if anyone can do stuff like that anymore without being influenced by Japanese Animation anymore.

Re: Anime
Ive watched everything accept the crappy shows that go on forever and were designed for 10 years olds like Pokemon, DBZ, Inuasha :P
Nowdays I mainly read manga if I want some Japanese style storytelling because it doesn't waste as much time and the manga is almost always better than the anime that they produce later based on the manga.
This thread has some posts in it about what anime is good by others and myself http://www.theologyweb.com/campus/sh...ighlight=anime"Thou hast learnt the way, how in the judgment thou mayest be found among those on the right hand; guard that which is committed to thee concerning Christ, and be conspicuous in good works, that thou mayest stand with a good confidence before the Judge, and inherit the kingdom of heaven:—Through whom, and with whom, be glory to God with the Holy Ghost, for ever and ever. Amen" -St Cyril of Jerusalem, Catechetical Lecture XV
"All those who find rest within the material world and are not troubled about the salvation of their soul resemble the foolish young birds that don't make commotion inside their egg, so as to break the shell and come out to enjoy the sun (to soar inot the Heavens of the paradisiacal life). Rather, they remain motionless and die within their eggshell." -Elder Paisos

I don't often watch anime, or TV for that matter, but I've taken an interest in Hellsing.

Re: Anime
My roommate and I used to watch Full Metal Alchemist on Adult Swim back when I was in college.
Other than that, my exposure was limited to my Animatrix DVD. But I did just get Batman: Gotham Knight on DVD the other day. Wasn't mind-blowing, but I was impressed."Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, 'Worthy is the Lamb Who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!' And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, 'To Him Who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!' And the four living creatures said, 'Amen!' and the elders fell down and worshiped. [Revelation 5:11-14, English Standard Version]

***Rest in peace, Curtmudgeon!***
"I hate Manwe's posts because I hate babies and America." --Augustine2004, August 6, 2011
Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'
The Words of Húrin and Morgoth, "The Children of Húrin" by J.R.R. Tolkien

Re: Anime
My favorite anime is Cyborg Kuro Chan. In general I prefer anime that is more lighthearted and humorous, especially action/comedy stuff.

Re: Anime
I've only seen wizards and the LOTR stuff from him, but I really like his work.
As for anime, I've recently leaped head first back into the genre (not that I was never a fan, just wasn't watching with as much frequency). A few notable titles I've seen over the past few months:
"Now And Then, Here And There" - warning, this short series is about child soldiers, and it pulls no punches with the subject matter. Still one of the top 5 series I've ever seen.
"Voices of a Distant Star" and "5 Centimeters Per Second" - two works by Makoto Shinkai. Just recently picked up on this guy, the artwork is fantastic, if you can see it in HD, do so.
I have a bunch of other stuff queued up to watch on Hulu (Funimation is great with streaming).
