      Depends.
Are you wanting them to just go away, are you wanting them to abandon their beliefs, or do you want to share the true Jesus with them?

I'd say, best way for them to abandon their beliefs.

I don't do that first. I start with why my beliefs are true. If you're gonna kick Mormonism out from under someone, make sure you leave them with something to walk with. If not, you just end up with an atheist who hates religion.

This is not necessarily on-topic, but I'm curious.
If you are agnostic, by which I take it to mean that you don't know if there is a god, why and how do you know that the mormon belief about god is false?

That number one thing that I've heard helps Mormons drop there faith, is have them read the Bible for themselves.
They tend to find out that much of their prophets teaching doesn't follow with anything Biblical, and if they truly have the Bible as their authority on such matters, they'll figure out Mr. Smith didn't have all his marbles together.
Vigilante: When will Pixie realize she digs me Mononoke?
      Mononoke: Maybe never.
Vigilante: I don't know if I can live with that Mononoke.
Mononoke: Would you like to know? Try it.
      --------
      Mononoke is not being nice.

Nothing all you learned anti’s have presented has come close to persuading me to abandon Jesus’ restored Church in these latter days as prophesied aka The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Vigilante, I have defended my position and doctrine with both New Testament and Old Testament scripture which perfectly correlates with my faith. Have you not been keeping up with the threads I have been posting on?

Fred 1111 - Refute? The missionaries are not there to debate and argue. Their mission is to deliver a message that you are free to accept or reject. They are not there to brow-beat you with Jesus’ Gospel. They ask honest and true investigators to pray about their message and receive confirmation from the Holy Ghost and that is how they expect to win converts for Jesus... not by arguing!

Try; No Thanks, I’m secure in my beliefs.

If you try to refute and argue they most likely will leave and not waste there precious time with an anti just as Jesus and His Apostles didn’t waste any time arguing with anti's.

That's because you refuse to look at the reality that the Jesus you follow is nothing like the Jesus of the Bible and your 'christ' is leading you to Outer Darkness.

Despite my feelings about religion, I always try to give missionaries something to walk away with (usually sore buttcheeks and a copy of 'Mormonism, Shadow or Reality').

At first I was going to thank you for a good laugh. Then I realized you truly believed what you said. So who's writings have brought you to this belief?

I believe I cannot have a fair discussion with you unless I have studied the same source of your conclusion (one prepared without bias or prior foregone conclusion intended). By the way, have you studied the doctrine of the LDS Church? Or are you going entirely by what you've read which was written by the follower of another religion (prepared without bias or prior foregone conclusion intended)?

Re: Best way to refute a mormon

I have not only read the book of Mormon but my older brother has been a member of the Mormon church for decades. It has been good for him in terms of changing him from a problematic life to a constructive life in society.

I will say this though. Jesus would not even be admitted to the Mormon temple unless he converted to professing the Mormon beliefs. I find that in itself a bit silly. And just to add another point Jesus appeared to the Nephites in the book of Mormon and stated the law. He went on to state that anyone who adds to it or detracts from it does not speak for him. I know you can find that quote so what are all these rules that have been added by the Mormon leaders over the last 100 years? Why don't they take Jesus at his word when it is right in their own book?

      Hi!

There are so many mistruths about the LDS religion. But the one you just wrote, floored me. Who told you Jesus would not even be admitted to a Mormon temple? Wow.....that is so far off base.

You need to talk to your brother personally about his religion.

I would like for YOU to find the quote you are talking about concerning "anyone who adds to it or detracts from from it....",,,and in context.

The additional "rules" you refer to is called the Doctrine and Covenants. It is not filled with only "rules" as you stated. When Christ restored His Church again on the earth, He organized it exactly the same way He did when He lived here on earth. That includes a Prophet and 12 Apostles. The heavens are not closed; we continue to receive guidance and direction just as in days of old.

      I hope this helps.

I don't have this problem but I'd tell them to sell crazy some place else.
