YHWH Allah
What is the Judeo-Christian-Islamic name of the Creator?
The Holy Bible-Qur'an names YHWH Allah.
YHWH Allah = LORD God?

Re: YHWH Allah
There are lots of names for God in the Bible. Besides the tetragram, the most popular name is Elohim. Allah is a direct cognate to that name.
Incidentally, YHWH appears nowhere in the New Testament either, so if you are going to reject the Qur'an on this basis you should reject the New Testament as well.

Re: YHWH Allah
YHWH does not mean "Lord"
It means more closely "I am that I am"

No offense, Garry, but you aren't making much sense.

Re: YHWH Allah
Garry, categorically no.
I researched this same question some time ago.
Linguistically there is no relationship between the words "allah" and "elohim" - or even with "eloah" - so said the experts. Of course, I still attempted to dispute this with the experts, despite the fact that I could barely recognise a letter of Hebrew and know no Arabic. . . and I know nothing about linguistics.

Re: YHWH Allah
Not the experts I've know, which are academic ones. Evangelicals often have weird notions as to what constitutes an expert and have gone out of their way to try and disprove the relationship between Allah and El, Eloah, and Elohim. Here is a decent and unbiased article on this subject:

Re: YHWH Allah
from what I recall, the arabic word for God is Allahah or something similar and Allah, is kind of a shortened form made into a personal name.

Re: YHWH Allah
Thanks, I'll check that out. (Psst, don't let on, but I rarely seek out biased experts who would be expected to support a point.) I do concede I put credibility on the words of Maulana Muhammad 'Ali who said: "Allah is . . . not a contraction of al-ilah (the god). . . . The word God in the English language is not a substitute for Allah." (p51, Introduction to the study of The Holy Qur'an. Columbus, Ohio. 1992.)
