Empowerment of the Holy Spirit Mark 16 v 16-20

The empowerment of the Holy Spirit is for every believer. If you have heard of these gifts and are not quite sure of them I can explain more. When Jesus said these gifts shall follow them that believe, the word “follow” meant that these gifts shall accompany you where ever you go. God is in a spiritual warfare with Satan and his demons. Satan is out to cause death and destruction but was defeated by the Blood of Jesus. When we become Christians we enter into this warfare against the enemy which can manifest itself in mental and physical sickness, tribulation and deceit. The empowerment of the Holy Spirit is necessary to fight and defeat the enemy.
Much is not understood about these gifts and if you have any questions I will do what I can to enlighten you on this subject.
If you have been empowered with the Holy Spirit please feel welcome to share your experience with other members and guests of this forum and we will endeavour to empower all those that seek a more personal and powerful experience with our Lord.

Mark 16 v 16-20; He that believeth and is baptised shall be saved, but he that believeth not shall be condemned. And these signs shall follow them that believe. In my name they shall cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues. They shall take up serpents and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them, they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

Except, of course, that Jesus never actually spoke those verses...

      Hi Frogwarrior,
Mark 16 v 15 & 19 quotes Jesus speaking these words to His Apostles. Would you like to explain more about your post?
      God Bless,

If I remember correctly, some manuscripts do not contain these verses and as a result some modern translations leave them out.

It is a mistake to leave them out. They do not contradict what Jesus said elsewhere. In fact they are in agreement.

Jesus told his disciples to preach the gospel and to make disciples, teaching them to keep on doing everything he had taught them to do. Matthew 28:18-20.

Yes, even the most conservative textual critics recognize that the longer ending to Mark is not original.

      Hi BoranJarami,
Yes that is correct, some individuals and denominations have cut them out of the Bible. However these signs operate in many Christians today. Satan is behind this deceit because he does not want followers of Jesus empowered with the Holy Spirit because when this happens he is defeated.

More like that the earliest and most trustworthy manuscripts do not have those verses, not to mention that the verses are completely different in many ways from the entire rest of the Gospel of Mark, leading to the inevitable conclusion that those verses were not originally part of the Gospel of Mark but were added in later.

Maybe the verses were added in at a latter date but they are from God as I have experienced the signs and so have many other believers. They also correspond with the rest of the gospel including Mark. Frogwarrior if you experienced the empowerment of the Holy Spirit you would see otherwise

Re: Empowerment of the Holy Spirit Mark 16 v 16-20

Satan’s deception about the Holy Spirit

You can believe in Jesus yet not be filled with the Holy Spirit. It is a deception of Satan to believe you have the Holy Spirit without the Signs following. Many Christians believe because of their good works, they have the Holy Spirit. This is a deception. There are many other good people in other religions that do good works. Does that mean they have the Holy Spirit?
Here are some NT scriptures where people believed in God yet not received the Holy Spirit until the power had come upon them.
Acts 8; Philip went to Samaria to preach Christ unto them. The Samarians took heed to what Philip spoke and the miracles he did casting out demons and healing the sick. They were baptised in the name of Jesus. Yet none had received the Holy Spirit. So Peter and John were sent and they lay their hands on them and they received the Holy Ghost.
Acts 10; Cornelius was a devout man that feared God withal his house, gave to the poor and prayed to God always. Yet Cornelius had not received the Holy Spirit until Peter spoke to him about how God had anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power. Then the same Holy Spirit that fell on Jesus and the Hebrews fell on Cornelius and his household.
Acts 19; Paul met disciples at Ephesus which believed and had been baptised yet hadn’t received the Holy Spirit. So Paul laid his hands upon them and they received the Holy Spirit.
When the Holy Spirit comes upon believers they not only “speak in tongues” but receive power to preach the Gospel, heal the sick and cast out demons. Acts 1 v 8 & Mark 16 v 16-20.

Both Scriveners and the Nestle 26 Textus Receptus has the ending.
