Are the Chiefs the best team in the NFL right now?
What are your thoughts. The win-loss record says yes. There are still three undeated teams, but two of those are 5-0, while only one is 6-0. On the other hand, the offense has been out of sync most of this season, and the defense, while improved, is still far from being the best. On the third hand, despite their travails, they have found a way to win every game so far, and against some pretty tough opponents (Denver, Pittsburgh [who nearly beat Denver today], Green Bay, etc.)
So, are they a fluke? Are they the best in the NFL? Or is this a "wait and see" team? The Best of the Best: Rush, Queen, Helloween, Gamma Ray, Savatage, TSO, Nightwish, Stratovarius, Freedom Call, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Dimmu Borgir, Blind Guardian, Edguy, Avantasia, Symphony X, Dream Theater ... to be continued ...

Kansas City might currently be the best. But they rely very heavily on a few key players. If they get hurt, KC will probably start losing.
KC will also benefit from playing both the AFC North and the NFC North, neither of which are looking terribly strong this year.Anything is possible, unless it isn't.

October 13th 2003, 03:07 AM #4I'm not sure that's exactly right. It's certainly true of the running game and special teams. But they know better than to rely on Dante Hall to get a big return every game. That's just not gonna happen. And the running game has mostly been a non-factor this year. KC's big weapon this year (other than Dante Hall) is the passing game. And Green has a good number of receivers to go to -- Gonzales, Morton, Kennison, Richardson, Boerighter, Holmes, and a few others. They're not going to be hurting for receivers if one or two get injured. The one player, above all, that KC can't afford to lose is Trent Green. We don't have a Gus Frerotte or a Steve Beurlein (sp?) or a Marc Bulger waiting in the wings. At least not that I'm aware of.Yesterday @ 10:01 PM post located here

I will make this critique of my Chiefs, though: we got awfully lucky last week against Denver. It's not so much that KC deserved the win as much as Denver deserved the loss. Our defense looked pretty good last week (despite Portis' yardage), but our offense didn't bother to show up for the game! Denver lost simply because they failed too many times to capitalize on lucky plays that went their way, failed to turn opportunities and gimmes into points. This week, the offense showed up in pretty fine form, but the defense stayed home. If we don't get both our offense and our defense in sync, we're going to start losing games. Also, the fact that we have a relatively easy schedule will be beneficial to us in the probability of making the playoffs, but could be a detriment to us in post-season.Last edited by Eyeheart Pumpkin; October 13th 2003 at 03:14 AM.

October 13th 2003, 04:19 PM #8I've heard there is a lawsuit under way from the NFL to have Al Davis removed as GM of the Raiders. Wouldn't that be a happy day? I am pretty loyal to the AFC West, overall (meaning, if the Chiefs don't make it but another AFC West team does, I'll cheer that team all the way). But Al Davis is a stain on our entire division!Today @ 08:01 AM post located here
