mac proplems :(
I am using parallels running XP connected to the network at work. I can browse the internet using XP but for some reason I can't seem to get the mac OS on the internet. It was working fine a couple of days ago, but I just can't seem to figure out what is wrong.
The IT guys at work are pretty clueless about macs so I guess I am on my own in trying to sort this out.this is my "external" web page theologyspong.com

Is it just that your browser (which one?) won't load webpages? Or do other internet services like Mail not work either?

It seems to be okay now. I think it was a corrupted driver in my Parallels network adaptor. However, it is still not 100% right as I still get IP conflicts on the windows side every now and again although this could be down to our windows network here.
Anyhow, I learned a lot more about my mac in the process of trying to sort the problem so all in all it was a useful exercise.this is my "external" web page theologyspong.com

We reserve IP addresses by MAC address. We occasionally get situations where (for no observable reason) the MAC address will be corrupted on the DHCP server, and will show as a bad address, and that computer won't connect. But if your system is an open network (any computer plugged in can connect), this won't be your problem.
Beyond that, I'm out of guesses, but I hope things get fixed.Life sometimes needs to be grabbed by the throat and beaten with a lead pipe. ~ Sir Longpost, a good friend of mine.

I finally found the real reason for the problem. It has something to do with the firewall in that if a computer is found to using over the set level of bandwidth, it automatically gets blocked from the internet.
So now I just have to call the IT manager whenever I get blocked so he can unblock me.
