  • Scandals at Fox News

As I imagine everybody knows by now, former Fox host Gretchen Carlson filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the long-time CEO of Fox News, Roger Ailes. More than 20 other women came forward to report they had been harassed also by Ailes, including Megyn Kelly.

This caused the owners of Fox News (Rupert Murdoch and sons) to launch an investigation, which apparently discovered that not only had sexual harassment been endemic within Fox News, but also that Ailes had run a 'black ops' group to investigate and smear his enemies. The Murdoch investigation demanded and obtain Ailes' resignation. Ailes has now joined the Trump campaign, to contribute his 'skills' there.

Today former Fox News host Andrea Tantaros filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Ailes and Fox. In it she comments:

"Fox News masquerades as a defender of traditional family values, but behind the scenes, it operates like a sex-fuelled, Playboy Mansion-like cult, steeped in intimidation, indecency and misogyny."

(Honestly, that description sounds like the Republican party as a whole, where multiple Republican House leaders in a row had sex scandals)

In the lawsuit Tantaros also mentions being sexually harassed by Bill O'Reilly and Former Republican Senator Scott Brown. She says she approached Fox management and requested Brown be given no further interviews on her show due to the way he'd harassed her, but Fox management turned down her request.

But her description of Fox News... wow.
"I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump
"Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism" - George Orwell
"[Capitalism] as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of evils. I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy" - Albert Einstein

It pays to be wary of those who trumpet their 'traditional family values'. The ones who scream the loudest about how godly they are often turn out to be the exact opposite.

On the scandals in general, I think it's equally likely that there really are a bunch of obnoxious horn-dogs in positions of power at FNC, *and* that at least several of the women who have joined the complaint-a-thon were just disgruntled and are taking advantage of the opportunity to pile on.

On the "family values" thing and Republicans, yeah, part of it is that some skunks use that as a cloaking device, but just as often, if not more often, Dems are just as scummy, but they don't bother even pretending to be moral or ethical, so there's no opportunity for anyone to gleefully shout, "Hypocrite!"

Let me get your logic. A bunch of women working under someone comes forward claiming sexual harassment, and the first thing you do is claim that its likely that they're lying and just want to be bring someone down?

The best attempt given at establishing the rate of false rape reports puts them between 2% and 8%.

Since that's not at all what I said, you are unworthy of any reply beyond my noting my disdain for you.

                  Cheers.

Fascinating. Which Foxettes went so far as to allege rape?

You maintained that two binary possibilities were equally likely. Not sure how that could be misread.

Interesting. I didn't know that, but it's really interesting as I think that "is she making it up?" is always at the back of everyone's mind when we hear allegations.

In Ailes' case there seem to be 20+ complaints including many well-known Fox News anchors who the public would regard as extremely credible people, plus there is apparently audio and video footage of several incidents, because once it started happening regularly some women recorded it. But given the settlement payouts being discussed with the women concerned are rumored to be in the 7-figures-per-person range, that's certainly a strong incentive for a few of the women on the fringes of it to embellish their involvement to get in on the money once they see it start flowing.

Same with Trump, three times over. And both Trump and Bill's relationship with their pedophile-island-running friend, Jeffrey Epstein, is questionable.

I'd be the first to accuse Hillary of many things, from unprecedented global corruption to truly atrocious foreign policy. But one thing I am not anticipating from a Hillary Clinton presidency is a sex scandal from her.
