Re: October 2008 Screwballs
Obama worship music. Literally:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TW9b0xr06qA"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

Re: October 2008 Screwballs
Okay I nominate your grandmother instead.
I also nominate John Goddard for his PM to me:
I'll be praying for this guy.I am a heretic to Trinitarians, that's why I have to identify Christian (other).
Arianism is God created a lesser god as the Son, that isn't exactly monotheism, nor my position.
My interpretation of the Bible is that Jesus was born 100% human, given power by God, and now rules over us as God -- we have to obey him same as we do God. But he is not born a God.
I tried to accept Trinity for years and just can't, after a lot of reading, my interpretation works best for me. Maybe not anyone else.
Finally I nominate Darth Xena for saying my avatar looks like a bad drawing
that's an AWESOME drawing.Call me Mark. I like sarcasm and the surreal.

Re: October 2008 Screwballs
EDIT: John followed up with this
I guess join in the Trinity thread if you want and we can talk more there. All I see in John 1is personification of attributes as a metaphor, with Jesus receiving the Spirit at baptism and preaching God's Word perfectly, so that it was made flesh perfectly in a man.Call me Mark. I like sarcasm and the surreal.

***Rest in peace, Curtmudgeon!***
"I hate Manwe's posts because I hate babies and America." --Augustine2004, August 6, 2011
Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'
The Words of Húrin and Morgoth, "The Children of Húrin" by J.R.R. Tolkien

Re: October 2008 Screwballs
People aren't moral and rational because some sort of religion or atheism has automatically put that moral or rational thinking in them; people are moral and rational because they are the image of a loving and wise God.

I feel uncomfortable with the implications of John's comment there (even though I don't believe him)...
