Beware of the witch!
The Zoo in Aalborg, Denmark has hired the Neo-Pagan Danny Druehyld to do a magick show among the animals in the Zoo. According to the Zoo, it's just entertainment, but local pastors consider it a religious performance, because Ms. Druehyld is not an actor doing a show, but a self-declared witch, who claims to believe in the magick.
If you can read Danish, read about it here.
The pastors believe it is dangerous for children to watch a REAL witch, but would accept an actor doing exactly the same performance. She is supposed to tell about how wonderful it is out in nature - and to do some magick with herbs, and perhaps bat wings, toad tongues, and what not.
cheers

Re: Beware of the witch!
Christians believe in magick, too. They just don't use that word to refer to prayer. Or communion. Or a number of other activities. Why in the world would a rational Christian church pay for candles, by the way? Mystical experience.
I'm not surprised that people are taking offense at this. I'm also not in the least surprised that a druid was hired to perform magick "for entertainment." It seems to be what most people are interested in these days and I find it interesting that one's religious beliefs can be entertainment now. How long will it be before there is an audience to watch a Christian congregation?Disclaimer: The author of this post is heavily influenced by experience and rationalism. FreezBee!!
What sort of magic is she supposed to be doing. I'm thinking if it were anything like what ordinary magicians do (ones who perform illusions and tricks) that it would have the opposite effect that she is seeking.

Re: Beware of the witch!
Well, that's the reaction in most of the newspapers here. It is suggested that the complaining pastors are just in fear of competition.
Well, som years ago the president of Austria visited Denmark and attended a mass in a Lutheran church. The president being a Roman catholic was afterwards asked, what he thought of the mass, and he responded: "Too little theater". But we Lutherans consider the Roman Catholic mass to be too much theater!

Anyway, som creationist Christians could pick up on the idea and have a nude, human couple walking around in a zoo, naming the animals and talking with snakes. Why not?

Rogue, how are you doing?
No, no - she is into herbs and amulets. However, I haven't been able to find out any details about, what she is supposed to do. Except that it has something to do with "the secrets of nature" - and i supposed it's not about viagra
