Apologetics 301 Guidelines

If you think this is the area where you tell everyone you are sorry for eating their lunch out of the fridge, it probably isn't the place for you

This forum is open discussion between atheists and all theists to defend and debate their views on religion or non-religion. Please respect that this is a Christian-owned forum and refrain from gratuitous blasphemy. VERY wide leeway is given in range of expression and allowable behavior as compared to other areas of the forum, and moderation is not overly involved unless necessary. Please keep this in mind. Atheists who wish to interact with theists in a way that does not seek to undermine theistic faith may participate in the World Religions Department. Non-debate question and answers and mild and less confrontational discussions can take place in General Theistics.

Christianity teaches that Trinity is the belief that God is one manifested in three persons; the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit and each Person is fully God.

However, Jesus refuted over and over trinity in the Bible. For example, Jesus said in Matthew 24:36 that "no one knows that day and hour nor the Son not even the angels in heaven BUT ONLY THE FATHER". Only means only; therefore, Jesus proved that the Holy Spirit does not know that hour or that day.

            Because you do not understand.

For example, The Word was always both God and with God and the sole agent from God to cause creation. John 1:1-3.

It's still illogical to say that god was always both god and with god and the sole agent from god to cause creation. I mean it isn't that we don't know what you are saying, it's just that what you are saying is illogical.

God the Son remains a separate God seated at the right hand of God the Father in heaven. Arathe anthropomorphic description of polytheism.

So you think John 1:1-2 is illogical, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. . . ."

What you do not understand is that you can know God. But it is not just you. "There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God." -- Romans 3:11. ". . . That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: . . ." to the Ephesians 2:12.

Again, this is an illogical definition of the trinity. If there is only one god, the father and one mediator between men and god, then Christ Jesus would not be god, he'd be a mediator, like 1 Timothy 2:5 says, between god and men.

"The word" is a synonymous term for Jesus/god, correct? So what you're saying is that in the beginning was god, and god was with god, and that god was god. That makes no sense no matter how you slice it. Now if you wanted to argue that "the word" was simply an attribute of god such as wisdom, then it might make a little more sense, but then you'd lose your trinity of persons and the idea that the earthly Jesus was god.

Please be more exact. There is only one true God that is the Father according to Jesus in John 17:1-3.
