Natural Science 301 Guidelines

This is an open forum area for all members for discussions on all issues of science and origins. This area will and does get volatile at times, but we ask that it be kept to a dull roar, and moderators will intervene to keep the peace if necessary. This means obvious trolling and flaming that becomes a problem will be dealt with, and you might find yourself in the doghouse.

As usual, Tweb rules apply. If you haven't read them now would be a good time.

Okay, I accept the premise - but that cuts both ways and it shouldn't be considered as a point of evidence at all.
Again, no one is saying it should be considered a point of evidence. Nothing has changed on that front.

I will get back to reading those links because I said I would. I don't have time right now because I have other commitments and real life is really hectic. And when Leo's better and gets back to me, that's probably where it will head, knowing him.

Really? 'Cause it was a proponent that threw that one out and it looks like that's what Lurch was just arguing in brief*.

Ya know, Shuny, if you're trying to increase the number of skeptics exponentially, I think you're doing a good job. Being a total jerk is certainly going to win friends and influence people!...

This not clear, As far as observations of physical phenomenon in science is concerned, 'nothing is thrown out,' and do not believe Lurch proposed this.

You can do it somewhere else. Do not come back to this thread.

Why? From my perspective she's pretty tame in the grand scheme of things relative to discussions in this forum. Why not give her a chance to look over the links and come back and discuss their content?

My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism. James 2:1

If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not  bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless James 1:26

This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; James 1:19

Yeah, even though i'm bothered by how i feel she's misrepresenting what i'm saying, the goal for me would to end this with some clarity. Hard to get there without any discussion.

                      • I can't go into detail about why I removed her from the thread. If I do, she'll have the right to keep posting responses.

All I'll say is that I've been on here long enough (eight years) to know a train-wreck when I see one coming. She was discussing politics and I let her go on about it for pages - showing far more patience than I usually do. Several people here tried to steer her back on topic and she just kept making things political. Not only that, she was acting rude towards several of us, and her last shot at myself and Shunny was the last straw. I could see what it was going to degenerate to in a page or so, and that's the reason for my request.

I normally don't do this but then again, Tweb is usually dysfunctional. If I get an opportunity to keep one of my threads more productive by removing unproductive people, then I'll use that right when I need to. Teal was NOT going to focus on the science. She just wanted to play politics. Sorry, this is a science forum - discuss science. I'm not trying to be some dictator but at a certain point you should realize what sub-forum you're in.

So lets get back to discussing the science, shall we?

Do, you actually don't want opinions from those who disagree with your opinions? What's the point of this thread then?

Sort of difficult to separate science from politics regarding this issue, isn't it? After all, every politician decides to deal with it according to "the science".

I think you are nitpicking, frankly. And you don't want to hear dissenting voices.

Teallaura did not bring up legitimate scientific objections to thread, which was the purpose of the thread. She presented personal anecdotal experiences of incidents of 'weather,' problems of public opinion and perception of the public of science. Towards the end she resorted to name calling, and this is disruptive to the thread. If you can cite one post where she addresses specific scientific issues, please do.

Yeah, well, I don't care enough about climate change to wade through pages of sludge to find posts. I just care whether someone is being tossed out of a thread unfairly.

And stating my opinion on that in the process.
