Make no mistake
I do not support Obama because I believe him to be especially scrupulous. I do not count his scruples as far greater than those of an ordinary man, all things considered.
I do not support Obama because I believe him to have an unusual degree of knowledge in the workings of our government. Although he surely educates himself adequately, he is no savant of handling the machinery of government.
I do not support Obama because he necessarily agrees with my political views. In fact, if I were to support a person based on this principle, I would favor Bill Richardson, whose political views do not only mirror my own but serve as their guiding principle. Richardson is a self-described "centrist," far away from Barack Hussein Obama II's obviously liberal leanings.
No, I have a very different reason for supporting this man. I support him explicitly for having shown himself to be a ruthless politician. He is not one to get heady over ideals. He is demonstrably ready to throw hindrances under the bus just as quickly as occasion allows. I cannot see this man tolerating failure. I cannot see him being forgiving over incompetence. He would not accept divisiveness or shenannigans in Congress. Under his leadership, the country would move forward. It would move forward because this man is determined to further his political career. I cannot envision a next four years in which this man does not crush anything that stands between this man and his goals. I support Barack Obama because he has shown a kind of quiet fearsomeness and lack of sentimentality that is rare in politicians. It is at once valuable and dangerous. I support Barack Obama because he is a living weapon."Acid-catalyzed hydrolysis of any derivative of a carboxylic acid leads to the corresponding carboxylic acid."

Re: Make no mistake
Oh. So you like him because he's like Machiavelli's "Prince"?
How wonderful. Interestingly, I see a lot of "The Prince" in Obama also.

Re: Make no mistake
It's too bad we couldn't have seen a Richardson-Obama ticket, Bill would've been awesome as president.

Re: Make no mistake
Yes, indeed. He'll plow under millions more of helpless unborn infants, those born alive, having survived abortion, but allowed to die, he'll embrace homosexuals everywhere, our streets full of their parades. He'll move to enact unheard of legislation and eventually, when he doesn't get his way, he'll move toward a dictatorship like Fidel and Hugo. He'll want to federalize the police, same uniforms across the board, authorize warrantless seaches to find guns in the homes of private citizens and confiscate them. Yes, he is ruthless, and he will march on, march on, march on, until he stands one day before God and hears Him say "depart from me, ye worker of iniquities -- I never knew you."

Re: Make no mistake
So, in short, you support Obama because you perceive him as a type of Hitler or Mao or Stalin.
Actually Ashley, you just earned a new found respect from me. Not very many on the left are that honest.Living so free is a tragedy

Re: Make no mistake
Actually, I'd think thinkers like Plato and Aristotle were....
Unless you mean thinking that politicians should lie all the time and not worry about morality and only appear to be religious if it will get them the support of the people.
If that's what you mean, then yes, Machiavelli was responsible.

GWB is Barack's greatest supporter. He did everything possible to put him in office including alienating conservative republicans.

Odd. I'm expecting tax cuts to end in a year or two. (Well, actually two.)
