Something seems a bit fishy to me.
I think that it's only "fishy" to you, since the afterlife is such a major part of your religion. Yall believe in two completely different eternal destinations. Since my religion only has one eternal destination, it is of lesser importance. We will all get there eventually.

I gave my opinion regarding G-d's teachings. I wasn't speaking for G-d. I THINK that if G-d considered it of major importance, then the afterlife would be mentioned in the bible explicitly and in great detail. But it isn't.

Consider that the prohibition against idol worship is mentioned dozens of times in the bible. Obviously, not worshipping an idol is an important teaching of G-d's.
Micah 6:6. With what shall I come before the Lord, bow before the Most High G-d? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with yearling calves? 7. Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with myriad streams of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 8. He has told you, O man, what is good, and what the Lord demands of you; but to do justice, to love loving-kindness, and to walk discreetly with your G-d.

Years ago I had an experience that confirmed all this, before I really even knew anything about the Bible. It's mainly why I believe in Purgatory today, Days of Awe are also telling of the actual process.

according to your Talmud but not your bible.

      1. It IS in the bible, just not the old testament. God thought it was important enough to send his son down to tell us about it himself.
      2. If it was not important, then why did God tell Moses about it in the first place? You said he told Moses and Moses told the writers of the Talmud. Seems like they thought it was important if they wrote it down.

God also thought sin was important enough that he gave the Isrealites Laws and Sacrifices to forgive sins. Why did he need to do that if the afterlife was not important and everyone was going to heaven anyway? Why did they need sacrifices to forgive sin if all sin is going to be forgiven anyway? Seems a waste.

By the way can you give me links to the Talmud (in english) where it talks about it? I find it facinating and want to read it for myself.

Where in NT does it tell about "afterlife"?

      I thought it told "death doesn't exist" , 1Corinthians 15:51-57

      According to John 11:25-26,

Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die; DO YOU BELIEVE THIS? "

      It is Torah-based knowledge.

You mean after we left in space-ships, or what?

You seem to have missed that this is the JUDAISM thread. When I say the bible, I mean the Tanakh, not your Greek Testament.

I'm not aware of any accurate online translations of the Talmud into the English language.

Jewish Encyclopedia has a lot of references to Gehenna in the Talmud.

which Talmud are you getting the information from? The Babylonian Talmud written in AD 600 or the Jerusalem/Palestinian Talmud written in AD 400?

and how did Moses teach them this stuff about the afterlife 3,000 years after he died so they could write it down?

why didnt they bother to write it down then? they wrote down the scriptures, the laws, and everything else. So how do we know they kept the oral tradition regarding the afterlife correct for 3000 years before they decided to write it down?

conveniently AFTER Christianity was on the scene by the way.

I don't know. Some of it like Gehenna I accept.

Other parts of it seem like Santa and the Easter Bunny are to Christianity.

actually I was quite a bit off. It was about 1500 years, not 3000. but still a big gap.
