Re: Obama is elected, gun purchases go up.
Sure. Some were from 1994-2004 under the "Federal Assault Weapons Ban".
As many as can fit and still have the gun operate in a reliable and safe manner. For example in my Sig Sauer P226, 16 rounds of 9mm can be loaded per magazine. Smaller guns of course will hold less. My Glock G27 holds 10 rounds per magazine. As for pistols, how many bullets should be allowed, max, in a single magazine (?) Perhaps I should look at the gun laws in Illinois to see what Obama might try to restrict or ban on a national scale--especially what is classified as an assaust weapon there.
There are still restrictions in some localities.
10 rounds max in CA,NY, Toledo, OH, HI and MA
12 rounds max in Chicago
15 rounds max in NJ.
I can't imagine. I'm sure my wrists would howl for weeks.

Re: Obama is elected, gun purchases go up.
Do you have the ability to shoot someone with it? Believe me, Dizzle, normal people do not find it very easy at all, even when in a situation in which they need it, to actually pull the trigger on a weapon that is designed for killing another human being. I strongly urge you to stick to non-lethal rounds. If you don't, then you will hesitate, and that hesitation could cost you your life.
Carrying a gun loaded with non-lethal rounds as well as a taser and a knife could save your life. You would use the gun itself to temporarily impair, distract, or slow your assailant. You would use the taser to incapacitate him or her for a brief period of time, hopefully long enough for you to get to safety. If the taser fails, it's a lot easier on your conscience to make good use of a knife than a gun loaded with lethal rounds. If a guy is spurting enough blood that he would quickly die without medical help, he will change his attitude. You don't want to do this unless you have to, though, because there's a chance you could be charged with murder if he dies and you don't have a witness.
Just make sure to never ever leave a downed assailant without calling in the authorities, including emergency services. Otherwise, you could be charged with a crime and go to jail while a person who tried to mug you walks free, or you could find yourself financing your assailant's drug habit while he leaves his medical bills unpaid. If you call in the authorities immediately and express sincere worry for your estwhile assailant's well-being, it counts as big points in your favor if you have to show up in court for it. It means a lot to a judge if a cop comes in to say you were there in tears when he got to the scene rather than absent. Even if it doesn't technically make a difference according to the law, judges have a lot of power in the courtroom. Besides, it's just a matter of decency to feel concerned for a person you just severely injured. Mind you, this doesn't mean that you stay WITH your assailant for the full duration of the incident. Get yourself to safety before doing anything else. You never know if the guy's got a friend waiting, ready to blow your head off for hurting his buddy. Another reason you get to safety first is that, if you do something foolish though essentially kind-hearted like try to help the guy, you could incriminate yourself under some circumstances.
And familiarize yourself as thoroughly as possible with the laws in your state regarding these situations. Different states have very different laws. Some things that could save you from being prosecuted in one place could get you in trouble somewhere else.
That's as close as I can get to what we were taught in our self-defense classes, anyway. I don't know if I got everything right, but you essentially want to avoid incriminating yourself at all costs. It's a lot worse for you to spend time in prison for no reason than it is to have your valuables stolen from you.Last edited by Ashley-Cooper; November 8th 2008 at 04:42 PM.

44 mag isn't all that bad. You can always start out shooting 44 specials, which are fairly tame, and work up to the mag when you're ready.
To me the best first gun is a 22LR. The ammo is so cheap that you don't mind spending the time at the range to get some experience shooting.I have been honored as an Enemy of Nee™ and LAu Tzu hasn't!

Wow. It's just SO shocking that the rate of firearm related crimes and accidents in the US is so high

Perhaps we should create little reservations for the conservative Christians to live on, so they don't have to worry about our regulations?

Re: Obama is elected, gun purchases go up.
Conservative Christians play a role in the *rate of firearm related *violence in the US ? If so, how ?
I think that they do follow gun law regulations and don't try to overturn them as they are.
Can the liberal ones stay out with the rest of society ?
In my opinion, the single most telling piece of evidence that shows how poorly we're manifesting our call to care for animals is the recent creation of factory farms. Over the last century we have, to a large degree, reduced farm animals to commercialized commodities whose only value is found in how efficiently we can produce and slaughter them for profit. Consequently, more than 26 billion animals each year are forced to live in miserable, overcrowded warehouses, where there is absolutely nothing natural about their existence and where they are subjected to barbaric, painful, industrial procedures.
This is a far cry from what God meant when he told us to exercise "dominion." (Pastor Greg Boyd.)

I can't believe the value increase my guns have taken. I should have purchased guns instead of mutual funds, I'd be way ahead of the game at this point.
