"I would join countless numbers of evangelical Protestants and say I have come to know Christ with fulfilling and life-changing effects and daily witness His grace and leadership in my life. But just because God in His grace and mercy has met us where we are and adapted Himself to our unique cultural and religious circumstances in no way means He has abandoned His original plan. God does not contradict Himself. Truth is intolerant, and truth is found in the Church’s living and Holy Tradition. It is my growing conviction that only a strong living Tradition can protect us from the corrosive and destructive forces of modern life, the insidious and deceptive effects of modern pluralism, and the disheartening and confusing proliferation of religious opinions...What are we to do with this "cloud of witnesses," this Holy Tradition through which they live and speak with such clarity and certitude? Well, for me there seems to be only one logical response. I must turn to the Church and its sacred Tradition; I must listen humbly and be instructed. I cannot let God’s marvelous blessings of the past blind me to what I have missed or deter me from that to which He would lead me still. I must return home to Orthodoxy." Rev. Dorraine S. Snogren, The Road That Leads Home

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

Re: December 2008 Screwballs
Yes, that'll work.
Not "good" as in righteous before God, but overall decent person. And he's tried to free his country for a long time now (not good in and of itself, but certainly not bad either...).Depends on what you mean by "good".
The funny thing is, that he might not even be considered holy by Theravada Buddhists. I don't know, but since he's a major figure in Mahayana Buddhism (which makes a much bigger deal about gods, spirits and Bodhisattvas than Theravada does) it seems probable to me.People aren't moral and rational because some sort of religion or atheism has automatically put that moral or rational thinking in them; people are moral and rational because they are the image of a loving and wise God.

Screwball nomination for this pair of clueless liberal journos who are baffled that Obama's election didn't bring peace on earth and good will towards men:
Anybody who calls this a "rude awakening" hasn't been paying attention for the last several decades.

Due to rampant stupidity by Skeptics, and time issues, I'm only going to be on TWeb in my own (tektonics.org) section from now on. Deal with it.

Reading the Nov screwy awards, Mike Wright is lucky I never saw his Narnia talk (being a big Lewis/Narnia fan). To quote Farnsworth, "The evil I could tolerate, but the stupidity... *shudder*".
Anyway, need to subscribe so let's head over to DD's site and pick out some gold...
First up... he seems to take two things only tangentially related and smash them together in a train wreck of world ending purportions:

Having read Vox Day's TIA (a great read I recommend), and a casual reader of his website (I don't agree with him on everything), I'm anxious for DD to finish TIA because Vox has then promised to give him one massive rebuttal (or something). He may not have to, as DD will just hang himself.

Good 'ole DD. Always there when we need material.
P.S. Everyone playing the Evangelical Realism drinking game...
Take a drink! In fact, obeying God’s will is not merely difficult, but impossible, since God does not show up in real life to tell us what that will might be. Instead, we are forced to rely on what men say God’s will is—and no, it does not help that some other men have gotten together and voted to declare certain of their brethren to be infallible and inspired prophets and apostles. The leadership and teaching of an infallible and perfect deity might indeed provide us with a superior moral system, if we had real-world access to such a deity. But we don’t, and in His absence men have found it far too easy to their own desires into the words of Holy Writ.Last edited by Challenger Grim; December 4th 2008 at 05:41 PM. Reason: P.S.
