    Repairing Wood Cracks

Got those freebies that saw a lot of weathering. But they're sound except for a through and through crack in the seat. I'm thinking about a paintable wood filler instead of hassling with sanding gluing and all that since I'm painting anyway. Anybody had experience with those? Do they work?
