Re: January 2009 Screwballs
JPH. Bart Ehrman debated Peter Williams on the Unbelievable radio program on if the NT text is reliable.
This one isn't a screwball, but is worth mentioning. Williams said that the problem with Ehrman is he always assumes a scribe made the change instead of it was just an accident. He always goes with intelligent design instead of chance.

Due to rampant stupidity by Skeptics, and time issues, I'm only going to be on TWeb in my own (tektonics.org) section from now on. Deal with it.

Re: January 2009 Screwballs
I recently noticed the YouTube-channel of a Hitchens fan who praised his debating-style. That alone should have told me that I should keep distance from his channel. He also loved to name-drop Galieo (probably the most misrepresented affair in history).
I wanted to know something from him so I commented on his channel.
2 days later, I got a comment from him, which was sufficient proof that he is not only a moron, but also paranoid.
Funny, I thought I left you a question and yet it doesn't appear to be anywhere around here... did you delete it? Are you afraid to answer my questions? or to listen to an opposing opinion? How weak and solipsistic do you religious people have to be to avoid the truth? I asked a question and I expect it to be answered. Is that too much to ask? or can I expect the same old lame story: repression and silencing of dissenting opinion in the religious domain by the religious? IF NO ANSWER COMES, I'LL CONSIDER THIS EXCHANGE OVER AND YOUR POSITION THE WEAKER. Good day.

Re: January 2009 Screwballs
"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

Re: January 2009 Screwballs
Yes, but this is different -- the fundamental purpose of a witness is to persuade the jury, and the judge dismissed the case because she was doing an excellent job of exactly what she was supposed to be doing as a witness.
So the judge was fundamentally undermining the entire concept of trial by jury.
