I was also not aware there is a biblical view of astronomy.

Since these stars are not firmly fixed in the firmament I would say it is a poor fit with the biblical description.

I suggest that if the OP is interested in exclusively christian reactions, this thread would be better placed in ... I don't know, maybe cosmology? ... or some other exclusively theist forum.

Yes, because the Bible really says that the stars are "fixed" in the firmament (which does not mean what you seem to think it does) and can't move. Never mind the verses that mention falling stars or Judges 5:20, which mentions the "stars in their courses"...or that Jude 13 compares certain people to "wandering stars".

Perhaps you could provide us with your own thoughts so we will know what specific issues to address in a reply? Thanks.

For the literalists this is hardly an option.

Also, how does this tie in with the OP? Why ask if current scientific findings are consistent with a metaphor?

I think the OP is unintentionally confused. Its sorta like asking what the Bible says about triple-heart bypasses. We Christians believe God made the stars, but the scriptures were never meant to be a study guide in astronomy.

I don't think so at all, but I am participating in a bit of armchair psychoanalysis. Here are two quotes from the article linked in the OP:

"A total of 14 young stars racing through clouds of gas like bullets, creating brilliant arrowhead structures and tails of glowing gas, have been revealed by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. They represent a new type of runaway stars, scientists say."

""Finding these stars is a complete surprise because we were not looking for them. When I first saw the images, I said 'Wow. This is like a bullet speeding through the interstellar medium.'"

These are two hallmarks of YEC arguments. The word "young" attached to a discovery that no one expected to see.

Perhaps I am wrong, but my YEC detector is in the red.

We Christians believe God made the stars, but the scriptures were never meant to be a study guide in astrology.
I totally agree. Galileo said it best: "The Bible teaches us how to go to heaven, not how the heavens go."
