Female - ChristianWhat books r u reading? The Brothers Karamazov
Hello, I picked up the Brothers Karamazov and was not expecting to be so absolutely thoroughly delighted at this novel. For the past 2 years I've been struggling with my faith and was amazed to find these very themes presented from different perspectives (my own battles in words before me) in this book. Sometimes it does pay to pick up a masterpiece without any foreknowledge of plot etc....b/c it was a truly a splendid surprise. (I love great literature....finely woven thoughts into words on paper make me swoon)
Dostoevsky writes as a master of the human pysche. I've never encountered another author such as he! Brilliant! And I'm only on page 250.
What books are you reading currently or have just finished reading? Do books excite you this much?
Thanks for sharing everyone.Last edited by princesa; January 26th 2009 at 03:01 PM.

I love that book. How wonderful is Staretz Zossima?
I'm reading Wounded by Love by Elder Porphyrios and varying fiction books depending on my mood.

It's very good, but hard going. A little tricky outside the context of the Orthodox Church, but God can do what He wills
Some wonderful stories...some stories that I can't begin to understand...some things make me uncomfortable... the best kind of Orthodox book.
It's an Orthodox type gem, especially of the Greek variety - he lived in Greece and the book has been translated from Greek, so it follows that they know of him more than the Russians would, for example.
