Does your pet need veterinary attention?
Does your pet need to see a vet? Is it urgent?
Select a pet to find out.
Kind of like WebMD for our animal friends. I don't think Possums are on there.Nochyu mokraya ptitsa nikogda ne letaet.

Mr. Bun Bun's vet is not on there, even though she is considered one of the best rabbit vets available.
Mr. Bun Bun hates shots; maybe he removed her name to spare other rabbits in this area from getting shots.

Thank you Dee Dee for posting this. It is a very helpful resource for worried pet owners( like me right now)

Try finding a vet who deals with exotics, as in reptiles, as in snakes! We have a 6' Redtail Tree Boa who is at least 25 years old (she is old and cranky) and a 3' Ball Python. There is a vet in our area who will treat snakes but it's a $75 office call and it only goes up from there. In Ohio, vets are not required to study exotics to be licensed, and most limit their practices to dogs and cats. Finding a vet who is good with large dogs is also lots of fun, if you live in the city.
We take the dogs and cats to the same vet we have gone to for 20+ years. She is way out in the hinterlands and she treated both farm animals and small animals until very recently- now her practice is small animal only, but she has Rottweilers and is comfortable with getting down on the floor with the big dogs. Not all vets are cool with big dogs, believe me. I found that out when Miss Clara (Belgian Malinois X GSD, about 65#) had to go to the emergency hospital after she was hit by a truck. Most of that hospital's clientele are cat owners. They did an excellent job repairing Clara's injuries, (thankfully they were relatively minor but a lot of torn skin) but when she developed a seroma that needed draining I think they were shocked that she did so much better for that procedure if I sat in a chair behind her and held her still while she was being drained as opposed to trying to drag her in the back and put her up on a table. Big dogs like to stay on the floor whenever possible. Clara in particular is much more comfortable if I stay right with her.
All I can say for finding a good vet is to be sure they are comfortable with your pet. I am glad to have someone who is just as good with my large dogs as she is with my cats- but she didn't get the exotic animal training and she won't touch the reptiles. Anyone who is considering reptiles or birds or really anything other than a dog or cat (especially in Ohio) really needs to do research on vets who will treat exotics. The vet who deals with snakes pretty much only sees snakes and birds (he doesn't mess with dogs or cats) and he's hard to get because he's the only one in a three county area who will deal with exotics.
Just like human medical care, good veterinary care is hard to find and even harder with non-traditional pets."Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed" - Psalm 139:16 (NRSV)
