Plan G…
Shalom!
You’ve heard of plan A and you’ve heard of plan B but how about plan G? Ever hear of it?
In 1983 I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis (a form of muscular dystrophy) so I put plan A into action. 2 years later plan A fell apart when I was diagnosed to have aseptic necrosis in both hips. As a result of plan A falling apart I got caught in the downhill “Why Me” slide but I pulled myself up with plan B and had both hips replaced. 2 years later plan B also fell apart and back into the “Why Me” slide I went only this time faster and further.
Following the failure of plan B Just before I hit bottom deep inside I heard a voice say, “You ever tried plan G?
“Plan G?” I said.
“God’s plan,” the voice responded.
“God’s plan,” I questioned?
“God’s plan is Jesus and Jesus is all you need!”
“Jesus is God’s plan?” I asked.
“Don’t you remember? The Lord is your shepherd,” the voice said.
Suddenly I was no longer in Port Huron, Michigan I was standing in a meadow filled with golden flowers and luscious green trees. The sound of a gentle breeze blowing through trees mingled with the whispering song of a dove. My fears were replaced by and indescribable sense of Peace and voice rang out, “When the Lord is your Shepherd, you have everything I need! He will let you rest in the meadow and will lead you beside the quiet streams. He will give you new strength. He will help you do what honors him the most. Even when you find yourself walking through the dark valley of death you will not be afraid, for he will be beside you, guarding and guiding your every step. He will prepare a feast of empowering spiritual food for you in the presence of your enemies. He will be your welcomed guest, and your blessings overflow! His goodness, compassion, and unfailing kindness will accompany you all the days of your life, and then you will join him forever in a mansion built by his own hands.” (Adapted from the 23rd Psalms)
In case you’re wonder what plans A and B can be described like this:
Plan A --- When confronted with situations for which there seems no relief turn to those experts who are better educated, more experienced at bringing relief.
Plan B --- When confronted with failure of plan A or from its complications seek assistance from those who can provide you with a compromised plan of action. .
Take it from me, one whose tried all the plans no matter what your situation is, “Go straight to plan G without hesitation, if you don’t have Jesus in your life get him, if you have Jesus in your life keep him!
“May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us…”
GRACE and PEACE,
Gary
