I'm back after an absence of... thirty-two months. Although this is my prior account, it seems like a good occasion to reintroduce myself. (Especially since there are probably a number of new people here, and a lot of prior friends who have - alas - fallen through the vast chasms in my memory.)

So: I'm JB. Maybe some of you remember me. Academic-at-heart from Amish country. Last time I dropped by, I was still a seminarian. Now I'm older, probably not wiser, but there's always hope. I've now been pastoring a small church for two-and-a-half years, through numerous deaths, my predecessor's dementia, some minor vandalism, and a natural disaster (church got walloped by a big ol' tornado). It's been an interesting road. Did some travel during that time (back to Greece again - I made pilgrimage to a couple monasteries on Mount Athos). Now, on top of pastoral duties and some other denominational service (facilitating a district of churches, serving on the national ministry team, chairing the historical society), I'm hoping to enjoy a return to TheologyWeb.

    Howdy, y'all.

Did you know that Jawa Man is now a priest? I dropped in at his church last month (purely coincidental - I was traveling for a wedding, and his was the closest to my hotel).

                  Now you, I've missed.

I think I did know that! If I'm accurately correlating people's TWeb names (many of which I recall only faintly) with their actual names. If I'm ever in that neck of the woods, I'd sure like to drop in at his church.

                              Nice to meet you.

The other day I was basically wondering about difficulties for Catholics to live as Amish, one being Amish county is already inhabited by others so living, but with another confession.
