Applied Protology 201 Guidelines

This forum is for Christian creationists (YEC and OEC) only, and we ask that conversations be kept civil and with brotherly charity.

Deistic notions or even theistic evolutionary* notions are excluded from this forum.

This area is not to be used to bash organizations that promote a Cosmological view different from your own (ie AiG or RTB).


The purpose of this area is to provide a safe haven for fellow creationists to discuss their differences away from the hostility that normally accompanies such discussion. While disagreements are inevitable, the purpose of this forum is for fellow believers to discuss their differences in a civil manner. If you are unable to discuss differences in Cosmogony in a civil manner, then this forum is NOT for you!!!!!

There have been some issues as to who is allowed to post in this area and who is not. TheologyWeb had very specific goals and ideas in mind when setting up this area, and this is an attempt to clarify. This forum is for creationists only. Here

*Theistic evolution is a position somewhere between evolution and creationism. It says that God created the substance of our universe and the guided it into what we have today via the evolutionary process.

    Old earth creationism evidence for the Biblical flood.

    Please, this thread is not to debate OEC and YEC directly, but rather for either view to present specific geological evidence that requires the Biblical flood, whether to be local-universal or globle in scope. The Biblical texts and how they may be interpreted are not at issue here either.

      This article summarizes the work done by Ryan and Pitman and explained in their book "Noah's Flood". This is a very good, readable book. The science is interesting and compelling.

      But equating the flooding of the Black Sea with Noah's flood is biblically problematic. This would imply that Noah's flood did not wipe out all humanity, but only those living around the Black Sea.

        A very interesting read and an intriguing topic (I picked up a copy right after it was released), but I wouldn't go as far as to say compelling.

          What I think is "compelling" is the geology that they presented. They present good evidence that the Black Sea was a freshwater lake in the past, separated from the ocean by a land bridge, and that this ruptured and flooded the Black Sea with salt water.

          I do not find it very compelling that this was actually the flood discussed in Gen 6-9.

            What to you mean by "the Biblical flood"? One that covered the entire globe, or a localized one?

            If a global flood, I don't see how an old earth view could provide evidence for it as their old-age interpretation of the flood layers would not allow for it.
