LifeSite News is reporting that parents in the United Kingdom could face criminal charges for removing their children from programs held at George Tomlinson Primary School which promoted the homosexual lifestyle. School officials have apparently announced they will prosecute parents of approximately 30 children who did not attend a week's worth of lessons coinciding with "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender History Month."

If you didn't agree with the repugnant hyperbole, you probably should have followed your Title form and not included the term "child abuse" in your post. The implication is quite clear.

I saw something that seemed off and noted it. Now you are pissing about it, yet say you actually agree with it. Here is an example of how you could have done it properly... link Gee... how hard was that.


That said, blog article seems like the typical, over the top, lack of any tolerance to those who aren't heterosexual whining. What are people afraid of... their kids being taught to be gay? That is neurotic. The blog literally equates teaching tolerance to that of child abuse.

Edit: AFAIK most Christians have ceded homosexuality as wrong in favor of homosexual sex.

How are you equating tolerance with religious education? Unless you are meaning that there should be tolerance for religious education. And of course, you mean your religion's education, not someone else's.

What exactly is wrong in recognizing homosexuality? What is the problem of teaching children that homosexuals aren't deviants by default, rather deviant people are deviants based on their actions. Are people really afraid that their home education / religious education won't stick?

And this whole idea of homosexuality being "immoral" is so out-dated. Dick Cheney and Alan Keyes have daughters that are gay. I doubt their fathers were pushing them in that direction and that most likely, being gay is more than just a choice.

Would you support parents who pull their children out of school for a week of racial tolerance instruction?

In both cases, the school is trying to teach the morals of getting along with people in life who may be different from the majority. The goal is to break the cycle of learned bigotry. Of course this will annoy those parents who are bigots and don't trust their children to think the same way if exposed to outsider notions of accepting different people.

Either way, I'm not too worried. Trying hard to keep things from children gets noticed by those children and frequently backfires in the long run.

What I mean is that what schools teach often times infringe on my religious beliefs. "The Bible is just a book" or "the Koran was written by Mohammad" are both equally anti-religious statements. All the major religions of the world consider homosexuality a sin, and therefore forcing children to sit through these types of lessons which are against their religion is against what this country (USA) stands for. The entire point of the founding of this country was to run away from state mandated morality and religion, sanctioned by law.
