  • I had a bad time parallel parking.

I was practicing parrallel parking with my grandpa and I hit a tree when I was trying to reverse.
I am kinda shookup about it

    Parallel parking still isn't fun.

Yep, I avoid it like the plague. Fortunately it's not common here.

            How's the tree?

Might I suggest practicing somewhere you can't hit anything? Empty parking lots are great for that.
                I'm not here anymore.

Sorry you had a hard time.

I learned to parallel park from my Mom. She told me how to do it, once. A few months later when I finally tried it, it worked like a charm. It's always been easy for me.

The trick is to be parallel to the front car's side mirror before you begin.

To practice you need two cars and a big cardboard box to stand in for the rear car.

It was not you. It was the tree's fault. Sorry about the Jeep; you were going that fast?

I have learned that if you use your driver's side mirror while backing up at an angle, when you see BOTH headlights of the car behind you, that is when you stop angling and continue to back up.

It will take time to master this.
I will say this it is a terrifying experience to think you have stopped only to rush backwards.

Here is my trick unless its a seriously packed downtown: park behind a car that has a lot of space before there is anything behind that car (the one you park behind). You pull up kind of like changing lanes, only break and come to a complete stop like a car or two behind the car in front of you (better to have a little extra space than a car accident if you can get away with it (like there aren't those markers for parking spaces along the curb)).

Don't worry about it. Everyone has a few accidents when learning to drive/park.

Backing into a tree is better than being backed into by a fully loaded gravel truck with a pup.
