Thank you for posting these, CP. I really appreciate you sharing these memories.

OK, kind of a strange update, that brings this thing full circle.
Jenny enjoyed her job as a nurse in a hospital, but the Hospice people (who took care of her husband when he was dying) asked her to come on board with them.

Having been through the whole situation as a caretaker, she understood the process of taking care of people who are (imminently) terminally ill.

She has been serving the last few months in her new job as Hospice Nurse, visiting homes and comforting people, and helping grieving familes through the process of losing a loved one.

I can't help but have tears in my eyes as I type this because I'm so proud of her giving of herself in this manner.

For my own use, because sometimes I like to come back and read this story to remind myself of Blake's passing, I thought I'd put the links for each of this 3 part series in each of the threads.

The reason this is on my mind today, is that I have just become the Police Chaplain I refer to in the story -- same Police Department and everything.

Thanks for sharing this, Cow Poke. Very moving.

By the way, my wife has not had to work for a few years, but she nonetheless went back to hospice because she loves the work so much.

      Keep the faith!

That has GOT to be a "calling", Rob, not a "job", eh?

      Thanks for your kind words.

Definitely a calling of some kind. Only a few of us are lucky enough to be able to consider our job a true calling. For most of us it's just a job or a career perhaps. I worry about this with my kids all the time.

My dad had a job he hated. Especially toward the end, when they forced the older guys to use computers, and my dad thought he was way too old to learn computers. (He USED to love his job, but it changed, and he thought himself too old to change with it, or to start a new career)

But he always told us kids....

"there are jobs that pay a lot, but you hate going to work -- and jobs that pay very little, but you love every minute --- you want to be closer to the 'love every minute' end of the spectrum".

I was happy for that advice, and put it to good practice.
