Re: Pakistan or Iran Next?
So you are saying it would be a good political distraction from the coming "complete" collapse. Ok, got it.

Re: Pakistan or Iran Next?
A war started to distract people from the terrible state of their economy is hardly unusual. Far too often, in fact.

Re: Pakistan or Iran Next?
Or what if Israel went it alone and attacked Iran. Iran then blocks the Straits, oil and gold skyrocket, the dollar collapses, and economies around the world collapse like a chain reaction. Can you imagine how po'd "the nations" would be at Israel?

Re: Pakistan or Iran Next?
The question is, who controls who? Does Israel have more sway over us, or vice versa?
I think we have already accomplished the main objective, of militarily "neutralizing" Iran, we more or less have them surrounded.
One thing I give Iran credit for, is not "needing" the US economy. They have built their country with no need of trade, export or import with the US.

For get Afghanistan, Osama bin Laden is hiding in Iran...

Man, what better way to get the US fired up and behind an Iran invasion than a claim like that. That's better than WMDs and yellow cake.

Re: Pakistan or Iran Next?
I agree with your analysis.
Any self respecting Sunni, especially a Wahabist like Osama, would never deal with the "heretical" Shia regime in Iran. Their list of "proof" is utter garbage.

Re: Pakistan or Iran Next?
Osama is America's boogieman, and still a valuable asset for US fearmongering and anger, and they know the typical idiot American doesn't know the difference between Shiite and Sunni. It'll be interesting to see where this goes. If the US government makes this an issue, then it doesn't take a genius to figure out where this is gonna most likely lead.

Re: Pakistan or Iran Next?
some info
why are we in Afghanistan?
http://dir.salon.com/story/news/feat...o/index.html?x
"Jun 5, 2002 | A 1998 memo written by al-Qaida military chief Mohammed Atef reveals that Osama bin Laden's group had detailed knowledge of negotiations that were taking place between Afghanistan's ruling Taliban and American government and business leaders over plans for a U.S. oil and gas pipeline across that Central Asian country."
a bigger picture?
http://www.atimes.com/atimes/South_Asia/II05Df01.html
why are we building bridges in afghanistan?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/0..._n_178715.html
examples of business as usual:
http://www.commondreams.org/headlines03/0528-12.htm
http://www.halliburtonwatch.org/abou...hronology.html
one could call this a conspiracy, but, arent conspiracies supposed to be hidden?
no - its just business.
so 19 saudis hijack planes and attack the usa...
and we invade afghanistan!
now if it were 19 chinese, would we have invaded laos?
many know what a feint is in boxing terminology but few know what is a draw.
if 9-11 never happened would there have been enough popular support for 2 wars?
and billions if not trillions in debt?
i dunno

Re: Pakistan or Iran Next?
It's not a conspiracy theory when you stay informed. It's not a conspiracy theory when the blueprint for the necessity of these mid east "theater" wars the US is engaged in were described a decade prior by the neocons in PNAC. It's not a conspiracy theory when Obama -- the so-called "peacemaker" -- is following the exact same course as Bush on these foreign matters, including continually beating the war drums against Iran. Conspiracy theory on this issue = I worship the US and believe that they are morally upright, more so than western society itself, and can be trusted to the full extent, thus would never invade another country other than the reason they give and without the best interest of the American people.

well, conspiracy or not(i think not...its just good ole bidness)
i think governments are becoming obsolete. they cant keep up with how fast global corporations can move money/resources.
and besided, does democracy have a chance when its biggest contributors are corporations? call it bribess call it influence but elected officials rarely bite the hand that feeds them, yes?

Re: Pakistan or Iran Next?
Ahmadinejad actually messed it up as only he can do so well. If the guy would stick to the historical facts, he probably wouldn't lose so much international credibility. Instead of making the ridiculous accusation he made about Bush, he should have flipped the script by pointing out that Bin Laden and the Mujahideen terrorist network were US assets under Carter and Reagan, and supported by them during the Russian/Afghan conflict. Then if that douchebag Stephanopoulos dismissed it, it would have ruined his credibility instead. Unfortunately for the people of Iran, the guy ain't exactly the brightest of the bunch.
