For a second there, yes, I almost thought I'd answered them. But your swift reproval has clearly shaken my world!
I'm pretty sure your bias has made it impossible for you to see some obvious things."Clearly Genesis 37:28 equates Midianites as Ishmaelites."
You have to smell your own gas to come up with a response like that, as well as the other ones.
Hey! They already laughed, and it's a very sensitive issue! Dont make fun of me please..Btw, if you think those answers really solve those contradictions, write Mr. Holding and all the other apolgetics sites that didn't answer them and see if they feel those answers are good enough to publish on their apolgetics sites, when they don't and they laugh at you maybe then you will see how dumb you really sounded in answering them.
I explained Rev 8. I don't really care what other answers I contradicted. We're not inspired writers as you imagine yourself to be.This is what she was going to attemt to save you people from.
After your classic reading of Rev 8 the other day you have the nerve to come back and try to make up more answers like the whammy above. You even contradicted the other answers given on this thread.
If you read the thread you would have seen that coming up with any answer does
not solve the contradiction. Neither does possible/probable answers.

I will leave you alone if you are dumb enough not to believe this, we can't tell you or anyone how to believe, we can't tell atheists that The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins is not God's word, neither can we convince you not to reach for far fetched contradictions and believe them as will as convincing yourself that the old testament writers must have made an error many times LOL!
We can't order you not to be dumb, we just wanted to see how far you would go.John 10.31-32 (NIV): Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus said to them, "I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?"

Re: Tekton was funny/ Thanks for the laugh!
Maybe someday you'll come up with an original idea. All you people know how to do is twist around what is there, also, I am not an athiest, niether did I read "The God Delusion" or do I like Dawkins.
Chill out... while you're chilling out re-read this... you messed up the first time.
How old was Terah when he died? 145 205
Genesis 11:26
And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram....
Genesis 12:4
Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
Genesis 11:32
And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years; and Terah died in Haran.

Re: Tekton was funny/ Thanks for the laugh!
Presumably you're trying to say that the text says 145=205, even though it says Abram left when she was 145 and that she was 205 when she died. It doesn't say that she died before he left.
Hopefully, your point was a lot more subtle, because if it is what I think it is, your reading comphrehension is broken beyond all hope of repair. It is as ludicrous as someone using the framework of a Shakespearean sonnet to understand Assembler code. -- Raphael

I will admit after further research this one is debatable, unlike some I'm open to reasoning, but papa, misunderstood it...
read both sides of that topic here...

Re: Tekton was funny/ Thanks for the laugh!
Abraham is mentioned first not because he is first born, just like Ham was not the second oldest (Genesis 9:24), but is mentioned second in Genesis 5:32, due to being more notable (though negatively) than Japheth, the same way Abraham was apparently not first born. This is supported by the fact that Haran dies first (Genesis 11:28), but that is far from certain. What is entirely possible though, if not probable from the text, is that just like in Genesis 5:32, which has the exact same style, Abraham was not first-born. It should be noted that these were probably not the only sons of Terah. He certainly didn't wait to be 70 years old to have kids by any imagination, just like in Genesis 5:3 Adam was 130 when Seth was born, but mentions other children, so clearly, like Seth, only Abraham, Nahor, and Haran were mentionable, by order of importance.

Re: Tekton was funny/ Thanks for the laugh!
It's time to clear up the nonsense about Matthew allegedly "distorting" prophecy, and whatnot. This charge involves a serious misunderstanding of what Matthew is doing, which is using the Jewish exegetical technique of "probabilities". The idea is that Scripture reveals how God acts, and to show how events fit into the "pattern" set up by Scripture. So, Matthew is not claiming that, say Hosea 11:1, was a prediction and that Jesus fulfilled it. I will say that again. Matthew is not claiming that, say Hosea 11:1, was a prediction and that Jesus fulfilled it. Rather, the passage was "fulfilled" when events transpired according to the pattern indicated in the passage.

Re: Tekton was funny/ Thanks for the laugh!
That's new one, very creative Eric, I really mean it! I never say that about anyone here!
although I don't see how Matthews claims showed how events fit into the "pattern" set up by Scripture to relate to Jesus.
But that will never cut it, Matthew is too clear to many times.
I don't think your peers will buy it either. He is stating them as prophecies.
They're going to shoot your idea down and stick with the double app, because I know they will never admit what Matthew was really doing.
Although you're being creative, it does show the lengths you guys will go through, but at least your smart enough to deny the double application. It's obvious by your answer you see it's absurd, and for that I give you credit for.
It's obvious if you read around like I did, Matthew went hunting OT looking for anything to create a prophecy.
Good try though!Last edited by Beavis; March 9th 2010 at 04:59 PM.

Beavis, if I were to recommend a book to you that deals with that sort of subject somewhat, would you consider reading it at some point?
"If God has given [his people] such joy now, joy in their faith, in their hope, in love, in the truth of his scriptures, what kind of joy is he preparing for them at the end? If he feeds them like this on the journey, how will he feast them in their homeland?"--Augustine of Hippo

Re: Tekton was funny/ Thanks for the laugh!
A book on how to brainwash myself into believing how God ordered the killing of innocent animals and babies, and how to convince myself of a double application? I say the same thing to you as I did to the Mormans last week, no thanks!
Kepp your book.
