The entire paper :) The last time someone posted a dailymail story on TWeb one of our British members, EvoUK I believe, started talking about how much of a tabloid they are with a history of having extremely skewed coverage and outright making up stories on occasion. Being that its a British publication that doesn't get talked about much in the States I think people just assumed it was like the Guardian or the Independent, but its not. They mix in highly slanted reporting (clickbait) and fake news to drum up traffic. I'm not saying that the story you posted doesn't have a kernel of truth to it, but I'd advise on looking for a second source on anything that the Daily Mail claims, especially if its salacious.

This case is one of a few that have hit the papers lately and are very worrying. It looks like these liberal social workers are anti-Christian bigots and are themselves the source of suggestions that this young girl wants to be a boy. Her parents definitely seem like the sane ones in all this. What a load of nonsense to tell a girl she is really a boy because she climbs trees. I climbed many trees in my youth and so did my friends and none of us wanted to be boys.

I'm not arguing that it's a falsified story, I'm arguing that we lack a reliable source of information* and anyone else's side of the story. It might be falsified. It might be exactly as the article says. We can't know right now.

*The Daily Mail is well known to be conservative and have a bottom of the barrel standard of quality.

As a UK resident, I have to agree with Psychic Missile here. The sensationalist and inaccurate qualities of many Daily Mail stories in the past, blended as they are with a nasty brand of conservativism, makes me flat out refuse to accept anything written in it. IMO, it's a lunatic rag which has all the cogency of a plate of beans negotiating their way out of a cow's digestive system. It makes the National Enquirer look sober and insightful.

And I still wonder what we are missing? IS he considered sane??? This claim he makes is just outrageous unless there's something wrong with his head in which case he needs an head examination, not a cash penalty.

The Daily Mail are no worse on the conservative side then Guardian are on the liberal side and if anything are more likely to give a broader coverage of certain issues. The Guardian just caters for an ultra liberal clique who talk amongst themselves.

The problem with the original story (of the allegedly transgender child) I linked to is that the child is a minor and so there will be limited facts available to the media. Iirc I think I first heard a brief reference to the story on the radio. The culture here is that the Mail are probably in a minority who would have been interested in getting the parents' side of the story.
