How the heck did Twilight win Best Fight AND Best picture over Dark Knight?

Ok kiss I can see....maybe. And there wernt any major 'breakthrough' males in Dark Knight, but seriously who else was nominated for that?

My opinion on Twilight can be found here: http://www.theologyweb.com/campus/sh...d.php?t=123604

Bear in mind that I'v only seen/read the first of the series, but I have no real desire to see more(and since I'm single now I wont have to). How they ever became so popular while excellent children/teen book serieses, such as Artemis Fowl go largely unnoticed is beyond me.

Twilight's popularity is quite unsurprising. It's the ultimate Harlequin romance story, about a man with a deep animal passion for a woman, but also a supreme nobility and self-control that allows her to sleep in his arms unmolested. That scenario sets off so many bells in the female psyche, it's not even funny. Plus, vampires are very en vogue at the moment. Browse through the teen section at Barnes and Nobles right now and count the different vampire series. You'll run out of fingers.

Buffy (the TV show, not the original movie nor the reboot movie in the works) is the best one for my money though.

I just finished watching twilight AGAIN, and wanted to see what you all thought of it. It is no surprise that men can not understand how the movie appeals to women. I agree with ABerman. It was just the right time for this to make it big. I think that what appealed to me the most in this film was the lack of modern rebellion you see in so many films now a days. It reminded me of an old fashion romantic. The fact that so many young girls and mothers loved it, proves that we still dream of that big strong indestructible man who thinks of us before themselves. The fact that men don't understand this movie, and how it appeals to women, proves that they aren't any closer to understanding a woman's needs. Also shows that some people are sick of all the bad language, sex, and disrespect of this generation and dream of a simpler time.

How? How? MTV caters to the tweenies. As a population they've got the attention span of a goldfish and The Dark Knight was three months afterwards.

Men don't understand how it appeals to women? Most of the women in my group don't understand how it appeals to women. As a love story it's blatantly creepy. A stalker is rewarded with the girl of his dreams. That's not love, that's stockholm. :p As a vampire story it's weak. All plusses, no minuses. Although the whole "moved to the Pacific Northwest to avoid the sun" thing made me laugh pretty hard. That was clever.

In parting, I gift you with this.

Yeah, I actually remember when Music TV actually was. What a day that was...I think it was actually the first day it aired...

Sooner or later you just figure out there are some guys who don't believe in God and they can prove He doesn't exist, and some other guys who can prove He does exist, and the argument stopped being about God a long time ago and now it's about who is smarter, and honestly, I don't care. ~ Don Miller Blue Like Jazz

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'

'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'
