You DO have to ask difficult questions, don't you!

um...
Heidi is 13, just turned so in April, but has been claiming so since January
Ryleigh is 7
Trent is 4
Ryleigh was born with a hearing problem, but we didn't know it until she began speaking with a "New Jersey" (kinda) accent... had a minor surgery and hearing is great, but she's in speech development to retrain her speaking patterns.
MEANWHILE, SpongeBob, who loves his older sister, has learned to talk from HER, so he has this odd speech pattern as well... "papa, will you open the doy so I can hee-oh the boids choip".
I often translate for my wife, who can't understand them when they get to talking fast.
(reminds me of the story - little boy sitting on the curb, man asks him what he's doing. little boy says "i'm watching them boids"... man says, "them" are not "boids" - "those" are BIRDS!... little boy thinks about it, then says "that's funny, they choip like boids")

Re: Have I showed you my 3,000,000 pictures of my new grandbaby?
We've had a family genetic disability to remember names for generations; Grandmother would tell the story about her grandmother, who when calling all the menfolk in for dinner "would start at Adam and work her way through the whole OT until she got the right names" (the quote is Grandmother's). Mother, in turn, never could get her own kids' names right: I was 12 years old before I found out my name wasn't MalcolmJohnEltonMarc (Mom's three brothers, then my family nickname since the family has pretty much always refused to call me Curt); when I wasn't the whole moniker, I was at least Malcolm more often than I was Marc. My sister was lucky, Mom only had one sister of her own, so Dawn (my sis) was always Sara, and Sara (my aunt) was always Dawn, when Mom was doing the talking anyway. My sister has called me Randy (her first husband's name), and my niece has called me Dad, even while my sister and my niece's father were still married. And my sister is fond of pointing out that Mom actually called me by our dog's name once.
So I learned a long time ago to answer to any name thrown in my general direction, just in case. When Johnny Cash brought out his song "A Boy Named Sue," I didn't get the joke for the longest time.

Re: Have I showed you my 3,000,000 pictures of my new grandbaby?

Probably every family has those kind of name issues. I am the 5th daughter in a family of 6......5 girls, all older than our 1 brother. My Dad had to go through all the names of the girls before he got to the right one.
My sister has a daughter named Christine who is just a little older than my MelMak. Whenever my sister is talking to me, or about me, she calls me Christine. And when she is talking to her daughter, she calls her Patricia. It's become sort of a running joke that when I phone her I say, "Hi sis, it's me, Christine!".

Two things...
A) Did I ever mention my middle name is EARL?
2) Isn't Moss's grandbaby CUTE????
(at least 50% of those points are on topic)

Yup... with NINE kids in my family, my mom would see one of us do something, and she'd have to snap "in order"...
PaulDickJohnBillRuthieCar...... YOU.. get over here!
Once, i smarted off that "I'm not gonna, and you can't catch me".
I get chills even now as I remember her narrowing those big brown motherly eyes and speaking slowly and clearly....
"I don't HAVE to catch you - I know where you sleep!"
BEAUTIFUL baby, Moss!
