Missing plane in Alaska

Pray for our little town of Port Alsworth, AK. A four place plane carrying four took off this morning and is overdue into Anchorage. An ELT has been identified and search and rescue has been dispatched. But with it now dark and some weather closing in, there isn't much that can be done until tomorrow.

This is now the second local plane that has gone missing this winter. Another about four weeks ago (the pilot died in that one) and now this one.

Thank you for praying. A little bit of an update:

SAR apparently was able to search for a time last night using helicopters and night vision with C-130's also joining in. So far they haven't been able to find any trace of the plane yet.

Also the report of an ELT going off was unfounded. This greatly expands the possible search area and makes the task that much harder.

Yes, an update - after two days of searching in bad weather some personal items, a seat, and the three wheels were found floating in the lake about 10 miles east of town. The plane is presumed to have gone down in the lake with none surviving. https://www.adn.com/alaska-news/avia...plane-crashed/

Port Alsworth is a close community; being only about 200 people we have to rely on one another for much. It's difficult to put into words the effect this has on our community. One thing that we all pray is that God and his kingdom would be glorified as we grieve, but not as those who have no hope. Pray the difference would be clear and that those who don't follow Christ would be drawn to him through this.

The volleyball team showed amazing strength and courage this weekend at the tournament and got a very nice write up in the Anchorage paper.

And pray for me as I fly back home tomorrow along that same route - I'm kind of nervous about it.
