Better than the Sierra Club I guess. They merely, in the words of former President of the Audubon Society, Peter Berle, who was speaking for the group, "reject the idea of property rights."

Nominating somebody who is actively in the process of suing the EPA is a conflict of interest, to say the least. I'm fully aware that's his appeal to conservatives.

I'm concerned on a personal level given I have a close family member who works for this agency.

Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard Ravenhill

Not really, since his first act is likely to be to withdraw the proposed rules, and the lawsuit will go away.

Well, an arsonist would certainly know a thing or two about fires, like a burglar would know a thing or two about home security!

I'm trying to understand your logic. You're... trying to claim that the guy does not have a conflict of interest, because he'll use his new powers to get rid of all the stuff he was suing against?

How is that not a conflict of interest?

It sounds to me like you're saying "Don't worry his conflict of interest will remove any future conflict of interests."

This is not especially unusual when administrations change hands, causing changes in the direction of policy. It will not be a conflict of interest because there will no longer be any conflict.

Then is there ever reason to cry out about 'conflict of interest'?

Sure. If a lawyer is involved in a case, and becomes a judge, he cannot decide that case due to conflict of interest.

"As Pruitt testified before Congress, it is the legal duty of the EPA to tackle the carbon pollution that fuels the climate crisis," Sierra Club's executive director, Michael Brune, said in a statement. "Pruitt is endangering our families, and any sensible senator should demand he be removed from his position immediately for misleading Congress and being unfit and unwilling to do the job he has been entrusted to do."

David Doniger, director of the climate and clean air program at the Natural Resources Defense Council, said he considered the situation bizarre. "After obscuring his true views during his Senate confirmation hearings, Scott Pruitt has outed himself as a pure climate denier," Doniger said. "Having an EPA administrator who claims carbon pollution is not the primary cause of climate change is like having a U.S. surgeon general who says smoking is not the primary cause of lung cancer.''
