Ha ha: obama crashes and burns
Hi, this is from Darth Executor:
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/publ..._tracking_poll
His rating has been slowly going down lately. I wonder why.
Here's a friendly tip for obama:
You want support for your crap plan and massive expansion? DO SOMETHING TO EARN IT. Nobody trusts politicians, especially in America where they are notoriously incompetent. You spent billions of dollars on an economic "stimulus" that hasn't done anything. FIX THE ECONOMY FIRST. Then you can tell people "hey guys, trust me, I know what I'm doing".
Of course, he won't do that, and he won't do that because there's nothing he can do about the economy. Him and his administration really are as incompetent as people think they are and since the option to earn people's trust is not available as a result, he'll just have to settle for punching it through while he still has congress."And now Lord, with your help, I will become myself."

It probably got ruined when Toodles copied it from the pm. here's the original:
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/publ..._tracking_poll"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

Re: Ha ha: obama crashes and burns
In my opinion, the single most telling piece of evidence that shows how poorly we're manifesting our call to care for animals is the recent creation of factory farms. Over the last century we have, to a large degree, reduced farm animals to commercialized commodities whose only value is found in how efficiently we can produce and slaughter them for profit. Consequently, more than 26 billion animals each year are forced to live in miserable, overcrowded warehouses, where there is absolutely nothing natural about their existence and where they are subjected to barbaric, painful, industrial procedures.
This is a far cry from what God meant when he told us to exercise "dominion." (Pastor Greg Boyd.)

Obama seriously over-estimated his public mandate IMO.
There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to dis-believe in their existance. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them. They themselves are equally pleased by both errors and hail a materialist or a magician with the same delight. -- C.S. Lewis

Re: Ha ha: obama crashes and burns
Good point Nick.
The deeper issue, as I see it, is a little removed from party stuff. If you look back over the last 40 years you see that all presidents experience these abysmal numbers at some point in their terms. What concerns me is the nature of the American Body Politic as a whole. There seems to be little to no consensus on very important issues. The divide is right down the middle. No where do you see this better than in the supreme court where decisions are handed down pretty much straight down party lines.
What is is in us that won't allow for meaningful compromise or civil disagreement? I know I myself have gotten just so over heated at ideas coming from a different place than mine. But really, why? Every four years we get to try again and this is the way democracy works: trying find the will of the people and not becoming a cry baby when the majority thinks differently than we do. But what is it that makes our disagreement so visceral that presidents rarely get out the 5oth percentile in approval ratings?
As a general rule in accepting calls to a new congregations most pastors will say no if more than 1% of the congregation casts a no vote. You just can't get any meaningful work done with more than that at odds with your vision. So when I see presidents working with sometimes more than 50% against them I just shake my head and wonder why we can never get to a point of more consensus than we do. It's frustrating really and nothing changes. 8 years of dems or 8 years of republicans and the landscape seems pretty much the same. Nothing changes. Meet the new boss same as the old boss. Meet the angry opposition same as the old angry opposition..."Yes, I'm quite concerned about health care issues surrounding leaked radiation from Japan. Now, please pass me my super sized, bacon double cheeseburger, combo meal..."

Re: Ha ha: obama crashes and burns
Umm, there's plenty of compromise. That's why America's in the crapper. Half-arsed legislation that's worse than pure liberalism or pure conservatism. Compromise is the equivalent of gluing half a monster truck to half a prius and wondering why it doesn't work.

Re: Ha ha: obama crashes and burns
I agree with Darth here. Of course, I'd pick the liberal side and he'd probably pick the conservative. But a lot of liberals are upset at the new administration because they felt like they did hand them a mandate, which that administration is acting as though it under-estimated.
But I think it's still possible for President Obama to pull off either that original mandate or make a good working compromise. He took the reigns of the presidency at a difficult time, and just needs to find his stride.

Re: Ha ha: obama crashes and burns
Except that Obama and the Democrats' idea of "compromise" is for the Republicans to compromise their own ideals, and simply get on board with whatever Obama and the Dems want to do. Despite the fact that the Republicans have offered several ideas for reasonable health care reform, the Democrats refuse to entertain any of them, and will not even allow them to be brought up in committee. As far as Obama's ability to compromise, his narcissistic refrain to those who oppose his ideas is simply "I won".
