But now that the speech has been delivered the conservative parents predicting doom and keeping their kids home look like a bunch of moon bats. Sure you can point to the changed lesson plan but the point is that Americans didn’t see people protesting a lesson plan but his speech instead.

This played right into Obama’s hands as they were protesting a speech that probably hadn’t even been written yet. His speechwriter’s couldn’t have been happier. All they had to do was produce something bland and inoffensive and the conservatives were left looking like radical partisans.

That is the trap the conservatives created for themselves and they not only gleefully jumped into it, they were surrounded by their own cheerleaders urging them on as they did it. In a word – idiots.

Now the next time the American public hears conservatives predicting doom and gloom over something Obama is doing – say health care or cap-and-trade – you can now expect to have to overcome the skepticism that this isn’t just another gross over reaction on the part of the conservatives. You can count on Obama's supporters pushing that view
I agree that it's a trap but it's not one anybody really created. If nobody had said anything I don't think Obama would've held back the partisan crap. He does it in speeches to adults, so why not kids? All in all, better to overreact and keep Obama in line than not say anything and let him go ahead with a brainwash attempt. The difference between the speech and lesson plans are cosmetic. They both came from the feds.

As for your last paragraph, I disagree that it'll do much in terms of skepticism. What republicans do is completely irrelevant to the fact that Obama's proven himself to be incompetent and people don't trust him with more money, especially with the huge deficit that won't stop growing.
"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.

The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.

And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

With his approval rating rapidly plummeting to levels even worse than Carter, I doubt anything this guy tries won't be scrutinized under a microscope. Then couple that with an economic disaster looming on the horizon, while he catered billions to bankers, and this guy is walking on egg shells.

No, what it says is that they made changes to what the DOE sent out, because of idiots like Michelle Malkin who thought that asking kids what they can do to help Obama keep kids in school was tantamount to propaganda.

Way to go conservatives. Never have I seen such a perfect example of shooting yourselves in the foot while said foot was still firmly embedded in your collective mouths.

I think it's a little late for that. Did you forget about the liberal conspiracy to institute Death Panels? Nevermind that it was a conservative who introduced the ammendment and had nothing to do with death panels.

Well, if that's all there was, then sure, they jumped the gun. But since everyone is full of partisan BS, there's no way to be sure what was taken out unless we can see the unedited speech. From the link to the article I posted earlier, it apparently was more than that, or maybe that was republican BS, who knows.

The Republicans have had thousands of opportunities this year to show themselves to be smarter and more competent than the Democrats. There are almost countless examples of screw-ups that have happened this year that they could be using to build legitimate arguments against Obama and the Democrats.

Instead, they've been focusing on outright partisan BS, this school speech and the so-called 'death panels' are just two of the latest examples. This is the Republican Party's biggest problem - not the Democrats, but themselves.

Actually they've been focusing on both. Step out of your marijuana induced dream world once in a while.

That sounds like a plan. I'll even keep a trap door in my throne room and drop political opponents through it for him to gnaw on.
