Clothing
First off I would like to thank all those that have posted in my other two threads in here. I should have posted back thanking you guys.
Ok now to get down to business alittle I have a few friends and now a girlfriend that is Wiccan, and I am learning alot about the Wiccan faith. I'm not sure if this is a steriotype or not but but it seems like they all like the dark clothing and shop alot at hot topic and spencers and all those what i think to be alittle strange clothing places but might warm up to it alittle more. But it seems like all my Wiccan friends love to wear like black pants and red shirts and those kind of colors with chains all over and I'm just wondering if alot of Wiccan's wear that kind of clothing or if its just my friends alittle strange taste.I love landscape photography because I am able to capture and share God's beautiful creation.

Re: Clothing
Your friends sound like total posers. Just like the neopagan friends I had back in the late '90s who were all into things like the goth and punk subcultures and Vampire LARPing.
Here I am!

Re: Clothing
There's no Wiccan dress-code, but Wiccans are attached to their own particular style, just as any other (sub)culture is. Since there's a fair amount of overlap with goths and such, and black is a powerful color, many younger Wiccans go this route. Older Wiccans tend to look a little more hippie-ish, or just like any other suburbanite. But they're so cute when they go through that vampire-ish phase . . .

Re: Clothing
I used to work with a guy who was a Wiccan, as was his wife. He and his wife were fairly discreet about it, since it was a conservative area and they were worried about discrimination. I don't know whether or not it was because of this discretion, but he dressed in a suit and tie, indistinguishable from that of the other business people at the office.
I'd also like to add that, rather than being dark and dreadful, he was one of the nicest people in the office.

Re: Clothing
Thanks! We often are, once we get beyond the early stages. I live in a suburb with a mini-van, three kids and a cat. While my house is aswirl with magick, it's very subtly stated and disguised, both to keep from freaking out my neighbors and because I've evolved a more subtle sense of style over the years. And Wiccans are rarely as dark and dreadful as our younger folk would prefer -- most of us who stick with it are possessed of a great deal of humor and joy in life.

Re: Clothing
I know the feeling. Left to my own devices, I tend towards a hippie/crunchy look.
