Natural Science 301 Guidelines

This is an open forum area for all members for discussions on all issues of science and origins. This area will and does get volatile at times, but we ask that it be kept to a dull roar, and moderators will intervene to keep the peace if necessary. This means obvious trolling and flaming that becomes a problem will be dealt with, and you might find yourself in the doghouse.

As usual, Tweb rules apply. If you haven't read them now would be a good time.

John Martin: The same rules apply to this thread as your Helio thread. And any future threads you make.

    1. Keep the points down to 1 or 2 at a time.
    2. Thoroughly discuss the points before moving on.
    3. Wait till someone ELSE ASKS you to post more points (do not decide on your own)
    4. If there is no further discussion on a point, or nobody ASKS you to post more points, then the thread simply dies.

You don't decide to post more points. The readers do. We will not put up with your flooding any longer. You have disobeyed the staff far too many times. The rules are now much tighter for you than normal. You have one point left before going into the matrix.

***If you wish to take issue with this notice DO NOT do so in this thread.***
Contact the forum moderator or an administrator in Private Message or email instead. If you feel you must publicly complain or whine, please take it to the Padded Room unless told otherwise.

You know he's not going to comply, so why bother?

Eh, let him have another chance. The mods are doing a fine job. If John can bring himself to actually follow the rules, these threads could certainly be constructive.

Does someone want me to post another point on GR?

First, I'd like you to respond to the counterpoints which I posted on the first page of the thread. Let's try to discuss the points you've already raised before we gish gallop off the other topics.

GR has nothing to say about the origin or cause of dark matter or dark energy. GR is either weak, or may only infer a maths model of the universe that does not support the requirements of DM and DE in the observed universe. In short the DM and DE issue may indicate GR is not a realist model of the universe.
Quantum mechanics is silent on the value of the Hubble constant and the nature of dark matter/energy. So's the standard model. So's evolution, for that matter. None of these are weak theories. You just can't expect theories to handle things that aren't part of what they were developed to explain.

Well, i guess you can, but it would be pointless and silly.

(Also, it's "implies", not "infers". )

Or expect them not to handle things that are part of what they were developed to explain. For instance by objecting to the General Theory of Relativity on the grounds that it is General.

But given JM's proclivity for finding "Problem"s, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he objected to Relativity because it is silent on Hardy-Weinberg ratios and Moore's Law.
