October 2009 SCrewballs
Since it is October in the other hemisphere...
Plus I may not be online early tomorrow.

Due to rampant stupidity by Skeptics, and time issues, I'm only going to be on TWeb in my own (tektonics.org) section from now on. Deal with it.

JP Holding, for the capitalization typo in the thread title.
Yes, I'm that petty.

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

Yahoo Answers lays down the law on people who believe Jesus was a historical person:
Anybody that cites Tacitus as evidence is a [dingleberry].
He said that Christianity was founded on somebody named Christus. He never met him. He was assuming the same thing people have been assuming for two millenia.
He also said that Christianity was a "dangerous superstition", and that the Christians were "a class hated for their abominations".
Source(s):
Common senseI think it's probably true. There's no reason to believe the man ever existed. What is recorded of him was written hundreds of years later based on oral stories and who knows what else.It's true. There is no historical evidence that he ever existed.I didn't know being an atheist suddenly makes you a scholarly source.The New Testament borrowed and reinvented ridiculous amounts of information from the Old Testament. I would not be surprised if Jesus was always nothing more than another Jewish Mystic fictional manifestation of Moses.
Although it is not unreasonable to believe that Jesus did exist...but only as religious teacher - not a son of God.

And has the "objection" to theistic evolution ever been posted before?
http://www.infidels.org/library/mode...evolution.html"One develops a cool and ironic sense of bitter humor, as well as a bloated ego, and this personality characteristic is the defining trait of atheists ancient and modern. "Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded- here and there, now and then- are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as “bad luck.”"
