What I don't like about Halloween is the glorification of evil/darkness, something that separates it from Easter and Christmas. Playing with evil is not something that should be done lightly, and that's what the secular celebration is all about..

I don't think it's quite accurate. It's a glorification of cartoonish evil/darkness. I don't think true evil bears a skeleton face, black hood and scythe. I think it bears a human face. In this respect, I think Halloween is doing us a favor. By trivializing cartoonish horrors, it removes them as covers for genuine evil. We should fear someone bearing a pamphlet to a depraved nightclub a lot more than someone with a black dress, pointy hat, and warts on her face.
