The comments at the bottom of the article are assinine though.I may not yet be as old as dirt, but dirt and I are starting to have an awful lot in common... Stephen Donaldson - Author of my favorite series (The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant)

And that's why I don't comment there as a matter of principle. Wouldn't want to have anyone confuse me with the rif-raf there. I like the rif-raf here more better!

Comments are the worst thing to happen to the internet
Science makes me laugh...one unproven theory on top of another and all taken as fact. It's one big house of cards that requires more faith than religion.
Well actually, science is a religion...

Re: Shroud from the time of Jesus
The shroud has been dated to the twelth century by carbon dating. Its a fraud.

Re: Shroud from the time of Jesus
There are none. The only one that even has the potential of being true is if the experts made the error of taking the sample from a newly repaired section. There is no way that contaminations can account for it. It has been dated to the twelth century, that is all there is to be said about it. If there are doubts to the date, then retest it. Until then I'll consider it a sham. And I'll consider the fact that so many Apologists cling to their Turin Shroud, a testament to the general ability of Apologists to defend anything no matter how silly it is.
I'm willing to listen to what questions you have on the dating mechanism. I really want to answer your questions on it, however I need to know exactly what you think is wrong with it. Why do you think it is reasonable to doubt the carbon-13 dating?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Re: Shroud from the time of Jesus
Aren't you aware there was a fire that would have infused the fabric with more recent carbon? And are you not aware of the pollen evidence that the Shroud comes from the Middle East 2000 years ago?
I'm not Roman Catholic any more, so I have no axe to grind, but I was quite impressed with Wilson's book about the earlier incarnation of the Shroud as the Mandylion known in the East and particularly as from Edessa before the 400's.
