Vote 2009 Platinum, At Large Statement
"At Large" here encompasses anyone who would not fit in the Christian or Atheist categories. Lots of choices on this one.
Unknown Youtuber
Epharimite (Mormon)So you're first accepting that the Gospel account is accurate, and using that basis to extract witnesses from the story. Thousands of witnesses were at the battle of Minas Tirith. They witnessed Gandalf's magic firsthand. That proves he was a real wizard right? No.
I wold contend that there is much MORE evidence for Nephi than there is for Jesus.
RussianWolfe (Mormon)
OtherCheek (Mormon)The Pharisees used logic and scripture to prove that Christ was not the Messiah. You have good company.
yonhee3's bellybuttonDetermining context is a human science, subject to the flaws of humanity. And to rave over CONTEXT (human interpretation), while denying REVELATION, is one of those flawed tendencies of men.
Did the bible ever prophecize anything important? Where in the bible does it say anything about extra solar planets? Does the bible even know about Google? or even YouTube? How about 911? Do we take the bible literally? I'd say Nostradomus was far better prophet than the bible!
The bible is a book of mythologies! Let's just it in the fiction category and let it collect dust!
Jo (Mormon) -- two statements, consider them separately
I do not have a library of the history books which four generations of my family were taught about the Reformation and the atrocities perpetrated by the Catholic (christian) church. I have the source from the internet which verifies those things which these four generations were taught. For me to give any credence to your interpretation of this history, you will have to provide some sort of support. Right now, the ONLY thing I have received from you, Sparko, or AP is mere hearsay. Without any support, or ability to research your sources, I must dismiss your case as unsupported.Shunyadragon (Bahai)If someone depends on evidence to base their beliefs on, then their testimony is built on a foundation of sand.
NATALIEIRENE on "Amazing Grace":...regardless of whether God exists or not we do not have two situations, with God and without God to compare to determine your claim. We simply have one physical existence where there is no evidence that things happen randomly, except as observed in QM. These are observed random events that follow a predicatable pattern.
-People still don't get it. Is it so hard to understand???? Shut up about John Newton!!! He doesnt care who hears this song!!! Its about GRACE not about GOD. He'd be turning in his graves if he could see what you were saying!!! Stop it!!! Go complain about religion elsewhere because I DONT WANNA HEAR IT. And neither does any other sane person!

Re: Vote 2009 Platinum, At Large Statement
Wow, it was really quite a toss up between Ephraimite's Nephi statement and the second one by jo7241974... but in the end, I voted for the latter.
"If God has given [his people] such joy now, joy in their faith, in their hope, in love, in the truth of his scriptures, what kind of joy is he preparing for them at the end? If he feeds them like this on the journey, how will he feast them in their homeland?"--Augustine of Hippo

I misread Jo's second statement: is there any way I can change my vote, as that's the one I want to vote for now.

I had to go with the Amazing Grace rant as Amazing Grace is my favourite song.

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

Despite the fact that Shunyadragons quote was my nomination, I had to go with NATALIEIRENE. That was to funny not to vote for.

"I would join countless numbers of evangelical Protestants and say I have come to know Christ with fulfilling and life-changing effects and daily witness His grace and leadership in my life. But just because God in His grace and mercy has met us where we are and adapted Himself to our unique cultural and religious circumstances in no way means He has abandoned His original plan. God does not contradict Himself. Truth is intolerant, and truth is found in the Church’s living and Holy Tradition. It is my growing conviction that only a strong living Tradition can protect us from the corrosive and destructive forces of modern life, the insidious and deceptive effects of modern pluralism, and the disheartening and confusing proliferation of religious opinions...What are we to do with this "cloud of witnesses," this Holy Tradition through which they live and speak with such clarity and certitude? Well, for me there seems to be only one logical response. I must turn to the Church and its sacred Tradition; I must listen humbly and be instructed. I cannot let God’s marvelous blessings of the past blind me to what I have missed or deter me from that to which He would lead me still. I must return home to Orthodoxy." Rev. Dorraine S. Snogren, The Road That Leads Home
