Glory Seed Guidelines

Notice – The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

These daily devotionals are brought to you by Gary Piper, a writer with our Sister Site, Natural Spirit Ministries. TheologyWeb encourages you to visit and support their site.... they have many informative articles which can be discussed right here. If you enjoy Gary Piper's devotionals, please send him an encouraging note or post. We are very appreciative of our partnership with Natural Spirit Ministries and look forward to many more co-ventures.

Glory Seed Devotional’s, 2017: Anticipating and Experiencing Jehovah-Jireh...
    Prayer as experiencing God...
    Shalom!

What is it that motivates you to pray?

It wasn’t that long ago when my answer would have been out of my own physical and spiritual needs as well as the physical and spiritual needs of my family, friends, and those in the world. Then slowly over the past year as I began to sense God trying to draw me closer into His life that is what motivates me now, experiencing God.

    I sense... Therefore I wonder!
    I wonder... Therefore I pray!
    I pray... Therefore I listen!
    I listen... Therefore I experience!
I experience... Therefore I come alive in God!

Chapter 2 “Talking with God” in Renovare’s Connecting with God is (in my opinion) very successful in simplifying prayer. “Simplicity is the characteristic of all real prayer and nothing pleases God better. He does not want so much formality in his service; great harm has been done by the reduction of devotion to a fine art dependent on so many rules. After all, everything depends on the Holy Spirit; it is he alone who teaches the true way of conversing with God and we see how, when he lays hold of a soul, the first thing he does is to withdraw it from all the rules made by men.” (Connecting with God: A Spiritual Formation Guide, p. 13, Harper Collins, Kindle Edition)

Prayer is as unique as we are yet it is not something we do alone, we may start out alone but as we address God we are joined by the Holy Spirit. And the first thing the Holy Spirit does is to withdraw us from all the rules made by men and we are free to communicate with God at a level comfortable and unique to us. I’ve heard different people say, “I don’t pray, I talk to God.” My preferred method is writing to God unless I am called upon to pray in public.

Our greatest need is to experience God on His “Home Turf” not ours therefore let us put aside our needs and enter into an intimate prayer encounter with God. Blessings will come after the Amen.

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”**

    GRACE and PEACE,
    Gary
