  • Can someone explain the appeal of diamonds andjewelry.

It looks nice but it is not practical. Why not buy a knife which can be practical and nice looking or make food?

    Can someone explain.

One appeal I can think of simply the status it brings about, aka, showing off your wealth.

And to be quite honest, in contexts of social gatherings, exhibiting those rocks can at times give the effect of having an opulent yet commanding presence (especially amongst wealthier circles).

At the same time, I don't want to dismiss all things without practical purposes, otherwise we would have to get rid of art.

Diamonds are hard and brittle but not necessarily sharp.
It is pretty cool looking at geodes and such.

                They're shiny.

Although actually the primary stone of my engagement ring is an aquamarine. The flanks have some traditional diamonds and blue diamonds. I just didn't want white.

It's missing two of the small stones currently, but I get free repairs for life. It's just a matter of getting it done.

It is also the only ring I'll wear, next to my Ring of Power, because rings get in the way when I write. Bracelets, too.

I had a very precious ring once but it got thrown into a volcano.

And you didn't pop in for a pint at the Green Dragon on your way past to Mt Ngauruhoe?
