The 2010 official weight loss support Thread
ok guys there is over 30 pages and its hard to keep up with in the other thread so thought a 2010 thread for all of us going on a weight loss regime would be great.
so post your starting weight and how you plan on losing weight (what system are you using)
and anything else you think you want to say about losing weight...maybe why your doing it or what you hope to acheive, your goal weight etc.
lets encourage each other in 2010.
it would be great if anyone participating posted their new weight weekly...or if you dont want people to know your weight post how much you want to lose and then each week the amount lost etc :)I've learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

Re: The 2010 official weight loss support Thread
this is Jardins original starting post from the other weight loss thread and the rules still apply to this thread

This thread was started in response to another thread . It is intended for all TWebbers who are trying to control their weight to support each other in that effort. There are only a few rules and here they are:
1) You do not have to be in a weight loss process to post here if you have something constructive and/or supportive to contribute, but spamming the thread or degrading posters in any way will result in your post being reported and your continued participation in the thread being strongly discouraged.
2) If you are in a weight loss process, your initial post should state what method you are planning to use or are already using (or if you haven't decided, asking for suggestions if you want them), how much weight you want to lose and whether you have determined the reasonability of that goal by some means other than your own personal desire. If you want to post before and after pics, go right ahead.
3) Regular participants are encouraged to check in here at least once per week with a status report. This report should include any weight lost or gained, pertinent information on foods, supplements, or other substances used toward that end, and any requests for support you may have.
4) Significant milestones should be rewarded with a hearty round of congratulations with many custom smilies...this is the only time anything resembling will be permitted.
That said, I'll go first. I was told by doctors 3 years ago that I needed to lose 60 pounds to help with widespread joint pain that no one could diagnose (maybe fibromyalgia, who knows). I lost 35 over the next 10 months on the Atkins diet and was thrilled. I swore I would never let the scale tip over the 200 lb mark ever again. I have put half that back on again over the last year, since I went through all the tragedy most of you know about, which made dieting next to impossible, so the scale isn't making me very happy right now. My current goal is to lose 25 - 30 pounds and my plan is to do it with portion control. Calorie counting has never worked for me, low carb is something I simply could not face again (especially since I'm metabolically resistant, so it took forever), and I can do better with low fat than cutting out sugar. Also, my appetite isn't really that huge. I don't buy snack foods, so they aren't in the house.
For breakfast/lunch today, I had a bowl of oatmeal (whole grain plus a cholesterol reducer) with brown sugar, cinnamon and a bit of low fat milk. I will not eat again until dinner, which will be chili with basmati rice tonight. It will be topped with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkling of Mexican cheese. I've been on a kick of drinking soda for the last 6 months. That's about to stop in favor of what I was drinking before that: herbal iced tea (unsweetened) and bottled water. Re: The 2010 official weight loss support Thread
ok I am doing the Herbal life programme my starting weight today is 127kg (279.98 lbs).
will be starting an exercise program soon too.
according to my height weight charts I need to be around 65kg. I am 167cm tall...if anyone wants to work that out in US feel free lol
the reason for starting weight loss...
I am fed up with being over weight...everything I do tires me out.
even going to the loo has become a problem (the wiping part) and I am just at the point where I have had enough.
my clothes don't fit, and I have a wedding in september....I hate feeling hungry but I hate being this fat even moreI've learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

Re: The 2010 official weight loss support Thread
Oh cool!
I am doing on a diet that is pretty much a 30day detox. It is called the elimination diet. You eat fruit, veg and meat like chicken, beef etc as organic and less processed as possible and you cut out sugar, caffeine, dairy (other than plain yoghurt) , flour, white rice and things like this. It can also be called the Whole Food Diet where you eat unprocessed, organic and unaltered food.
The key to this is drinking water. I have lost 3lbs in the last week on it. I am still in the throws of sugar cravings but it should get better tomorrow.
My weight today is 146lbs (66kg)
My goal is 128lbs (58kg)
I am cycling too to get the weight shifted and want to ride a marathon at the end of March.
ETA: With the 30day diet after the 30days you slowly reintroduce dairy and wheat etc. and test the reaction your body has to it. I would start having 1 cup of tea a day again and maybe drop a sugar if my body will allow me

Re: The 2010 official weight loss support Thread
As you can guess my beloved up above has also got me into doing this one.
My weight today: 85.45kg (188lbs)
My goal weight: 70-75kg (154-165lbs)
In addition to the diet I'm getting back onto my mountain bike (3 months off following an injury) and my beloved has also talked me into alternating riding with Pilates."If you can ever make any major religion look absolutely ludicrous, chances are you haven't understood it"

Re: The 2010 official weight loss support Thread
I don't do scales but at the moment I'm 5'8", a UK size 16 and am looking to shift a few pounds because most of my clothes are a UK 14... and I'd do anything (even ration my beloved pizza) rather than buy new stuff when there's tonnes of perfectly good old stuff in my wardrobe.

With that said, I'm having 4 meals a day at regularly spaced intervals, just regular portion sizes, and no nutritionally empty meals. Cutting out snacks for the time being, and at the moment I'm getting all the exercise I need deep-cleaning my home after the inevitable Christmas negligence.
Good luck to other TWebbers looking to drop some excess poundage!

Re: The 2010 official weight loss support Thread
The following three programs are free, effective multi-muscle engagement exercises and have distinct outlined short term and long term objectives. My wife did the squats program before she got pregnant and successfully did 200 straight squats last summer. Combined with diet and other exercise, she lost 14 lbs in about 6 weeks. I've almost finished the situp one multiple times in the past.

Re: The 2010 official weight loss support Thread
My weight in November of 2008: 230 lbs
Current Weight : 187 lbs
Goal : 165 lbs
Diet system : body for life diet: eat six times a day from a protein/carbs/veggie list, small meals, drink lots of water, have a free day once a week, and regularly do cardio (jogging, in my case)
It works great. Just a matter of being consistent and remembering to look forward to your free day when you start lusting after junk food.

Re: The 2010 official weight loss support Thread
wow what a super response. thanks to everyone who also put down the kg as well as lbs
makes it easier for me to understand
some of you are already doing a great Job
one thing like someone already mentioned is making sure you drink 8 cups of water a day...water really helps with weight loss.
another thing that could help is to take aloe vera juice twice a day....you have villi in your intestines which over years get pushed down and end up dying. Aloe actually helps the villi (small finger like protrusions in the bowel that help take all the goodness out of your food and into the body) to grow back and stay healthy.
also apparently making sure you eat breakfast within half an hour of waking up and never skip breakfast kicks your metabolism up. as does making sure you have something to eat every 3-4 hours.
on the herbalife system you have your shake for breaky along with a vitamin pill (and optional aloe juice)
3-4 hours later you have a protein bar or other low fat snack.
then lunch at lunch time and another protein bar or low fat snack 3-4 hours later.
then dinner when you would normally have it....this is a cooked home-made dinner, basicly what you would normally have tho in a smaller portion.
for me being able to have what I would normally for dinner is a big thing...I don't feel like I am missing out on anything.
if I love a bowl of ice-cream in the evenings I can still have a scoop. if I have a craving for chocolate I can still have a few pieces.
it doesnt STOP you eating things you like just you cant have them till dinner and then in smaller portions
I've learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

Re: The 2010 official weight loss support Thread
I currently weigh 203 to 205 pounds. I keep bouncing around.
I am not doing anything special, just trying to cut down on snacks and eat better and smaller portions. I need to start exercising more but I am lazy. something else I need to fix.
My doctor upped my thyroid medication because my thyroid is low and that has helped me to lose weight.
slow and steady is all I am after. If it takes me a year to lose another 20 pounds, then thats fine.
