Even if that's true, it's quite a stretch to think they'd allow an impeachment to get to that goal.

Obviously, the Republicans aren't going to go along with an impeachment just to get their preferred guy into the president's seat. But if such a thing looked like it could plausibly happen, I expect they'd be a lot less reluctant than normal to do it.

I don't necessarily want him impeached at this point, it really wouldn't matter to much with Pence in the wings, but if he or anyone else in his administration is found to be treasoness, then I want them all to go to prison.
